I get a ton of crap email a day in my spam folder. How do these people get my email address? Everytime I get one I block the address and lo and behold the next day, same email from a different address! Any ideas?
I have heard a ton of people saying this lately, except for me an my buds on AOL.
They do a great job at blocking junk.
If you are opening these e-mails before you delete them, the people who sent them will know it it a valid address, and will keep sending them. Same goes with sending an unsubscribe e-mail. Only with the most credible companies will the unsubscribe function work.
I never open them and I never use any unsubscribe link. I spend a lot of time on Ebay and it seems it is after I am on there that I get them.
Go to Yahoo and/or Google and create an email address there. Use these for people who you do not trust. You will probably need to change your home email address and then only give that out to people you trust. If you or someone in your family enters online contests, that is a good way to get spam. When filling out forms, always uncheck the boxes that suggest sending you promotion materials or special offers. I always remove all of the names from forwarded emails if I am forwarding it to someone else. Make sure your real email never appears online in any newsgroups, forums or auction sites. It only takes once for the spamming to begin if you are not careful.

Yahoo is very good to use if you are ordering something or signing up for something. I use Yahoo for all that stuff and get all kinds of junk in my bulk folder. I just empty the bulk without even looking at it. My regular email never has junk mail.

Ya Jim i use yahoo too. I get my desired mail in my regular box and i just deleat the bulk box unless i want to look at it. I used to write a returned message and ask everyone to take me off thier mailing and it hardly ever worked, there was just as much and more mail as time went by. I still got mail from jupiter. Now i just deleat the bulk box and its done with a push of the mouse and no more asking these brain dead robots for a favor. 
There is an option on AOL to block all of that stuff; not sure about the other providers.
The emails that are undesirable all go directly to my spam folder and I never open them. I just cant figure out how they get my address. Other than people I trust, I only use my email address for Cabela’s, Ebay and Paypal and on here. Guess I will just keep blocking and deleting!
