    FOOTBALL?

The regular season begins today for the Patriots and Raiders. It will be interesting to see Moss playing with a new team.

OK football rubes, what are your 2005 predictions? I am looking forward to an exciting year for the Purple. My prediction is 10-6 and making it to the NFC championship game, but loosing. Should be a fun season, especially when the Pack miss the playoffs this year. Let the banter begin!

    GO VIKES!

    Vikings – 33
    Tampa – 13

I predict the Vikings will barely make the playoffs at 9-7 but will take a beating by the Cowboys in the first round of the playoffs. The Cowboys will then beat the eagles and win the superbowl beating the Indianpolis colts 20-17.

I don’t think my Bears will do any better than 3rd place in the division. It’s still between the Packers and the Vikings for the division champ and, on paper, I’d have to give the edge to the Vikings. The Packers still have that ‘Brett Favre Mojo’ going but it’ll be interesting to see if their defense will be as bad as people think they’ll be.

Cowboys will suck this year, due to no decent QB action.

This year will be Farve’s flashback to being a rookie with throwing record interceptions.

Culpepper will have record sacks against him, because he will have brain farts on what to do with the ball when he is in the pocket!!!!!

    Gary,

You just want Culpepper to do bad so you won’t have to take me muskie fishing next year!!!

Vikings win the division this year, and are the only team in the division over .500 for the season. Face it, the NFC North is the worst division in the NFL.

Culpepper wins NFC Offensive Player of the Year.
Williamson wins NFC Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Vikings loose to Indianapolis in the S.B.

Oh no, we are still going ski fishing!!! I didn’t forget about that!!!!

Actually, as much as I hate to say it, Pepper didn’t look too bad on the field, but I think they should make him a running back and get the real deal in there, meaning Johnson!!!!!!!

    Thats funny!

Can you just imagine the look on a DB’s face if he were to have to make a play with Klinesasser, Wiggins, AND Culpepper coming thru the line as lead blockers for a tailback!!

“Pass the pipe” ’cause you vikes fans keep bogartin it! Its a toss up between the purple pukes and the Pack for the division. Neither will be better than 10-6, BOTH should be above .500. The Vikes won’
t make it past the first round of NFC playoffs. Of course My Packers probably won’t either, but oh well. You guys have had better draft picks than we have for what? 10-12 years now?
Did someone mention the cowgirls? Winning a SB? Sorry, I vike’d (Choked) on coffee. The NFC winner is up for grabs, but doubtful it will be anyone near texas. AFC will probably be Indy. Oh yeah, is anyone alse besides me tired of the patriots yet?

    Little wager on that Fish?

Barring an injury to Culppepper, I bet the Vikes have 10 wins minimum, and finish at least 2 games ahead of Green bay. Vikes made it out of the first round of the playoffs last year, and they beat…………hmmmmm, on the road too I believe.

Nope not me. They have a long road to travel this year. Lots of key losses. Personally I think they are a model for what teams should be. Every player shows up and does their job. You can’t say that about a lot of teams in the NFL or any other ‘professional’ league. Besides that, I don’t see them mortaging their future like the 49ers and Dallas did not so long ago.

BTW, I’m not that big of a Pats fan.

    Blue,

I was thinking the exact same things. Mr Kraft has a business model that won’t work for most professional sports if you don’t have the correct attitudes in the locker room.

I think the Pats have the toughest year yet ahead of them, but I’m kind of rooting for them. Must be the SD connection.

I might start paying attention towards the end of November if I’m tired of fishing and pheasant hunting.

Something I never thought I’d see. In today’s Chicago Tribune they have some ‘experts'(Ditka is the only one that is well-known) that make their predictions for all the games this weekend. All five of these guys picked the Lions to beat the Packers!!! Granted, three of the five picked the Bears to beat the Redskins so that should put things in perspective, I guess.

P.S. New England looked darned solid last night after losing their offensive and defensive coordinators and more than one starter from last year. They are truly a machine!

Tired of them? It took 30 years to become respectable! They play as a team and deserve their success.

I’m a New Egland native transplanted to MN and after 30 years of barely making the playoffs and being only marginally entertaining it is like being a kid in a candy store right now watching New England sports. 3 Superbowls in 4 years AND the Red Sox win the world series? I’m sure there were a lot of people In Boston in their 90’s who dropped dead happy when the Sox won!

I have been a huge Pats fan for 20 years (not the typical bandwagon jumper) and only recently got to enjoy being able to say that.

I hope the run continues (and with Brady at the helm it could) but I do wish success for the Vikes too.

    Go PATS!

93x was talking about Moss doing something stupid last night. I fell asleep before the half, what did he do??

As for the Pats, I thought they looked really rusty the first couple drives. Then the machine started working pretty well. Brady is better than I give him credit for. Will he be the next Montana, Young, Favre???

Moss does not look good in silver and black. Both Madden and Micheals agree it was a dumb trade.. And Collins is no Culpepper, Randy did get his 1 of his 14 TD’s out of the way but I bet Randy will get hurt from those ducks that Collins throws..

I watched the whole game and don’t remember him doing anything stupid other than losing the ball when he tried to tuck it away after a catch. Shoulda been ruled a fumble but was incomplete.

Anybody see something that I missed? I do admit to turning off the TV as soon as time expired so I’d be able to get up for work today.

Ain’t it funny that getting up for work after a late night is so hard but getting up to go fishing or hunting isn’t? I could jump outa bed after two hours sleep on opening day of white tail season and not miss a beat but try to get up after 6 hours for work…

Well, I certainly don’t think that Tom Brady gets his due. Anyone that doesn’t put him on the short list of the best QB’s in the league is nuts. I thought he shredded Oaklands defense in the first half last night. Mixed in the tight-ends nicely and his line wasn’t letting anyone touch him. I don’t dislike the Pats, I just like seeing some variety in the Super Bowl, that’s all.

I didn’t see Moss do anything goofy last night. Didn’t watch the fourth qtr though.

I believe the Jets and the Lions are two sleeper teams this year. Both have made some good off-season transaction no both sides of the ball. Not to say either will make it to the Super Bowl, but they’ll improve from last year.

You have to figure that the Lions just have to get it together one of these years!!! I did read something that said that their first team offense didn’t score one touchdown in the entire pre-season though. That’s not good!! And now since Garcia broke his leg they don’t have much of a back-up for Harrington if something happens to him or he stinks up the field.

Of course, the Bears have no starting quarterback. We just start our backups until they get hurt!!! I tell all of my Packer-fan buddies though that they’re one Brett Favre away from being us!! They don’t like that too much.

I figured the Pack would lose this one, but not play as horribly as they did. Unfortunately, I also figured the Vikes were sure winners and their lost cost me the football pool.

Nonetheless, based on their schedules both teams should have winning records, albeit about 9-7. Which one makes the playoffs is an absolute toss-up.
