I know I amn’t telling anyone anything they already don’t know, but I see here in Madison within the last couple hours the gas jumped up 20 cents to $2.89 a gallon. Sounds like this is what we have to look forward to for awhile. I heard everywhere is going to be jumping, so if your area hasn’t jumped I would fill up soon.

Last weekend I filled up in Anoka, MN and it was $2.43….I thought I was getting a heck of a deal. I even gave the cashier $5 and said I was going to just spray some on the ground because it was so cheap. No, but you can imagine if I did…

I said to myself that when gas hit 3$ a gallon I’m going to start riding the bike in to school every day. Looks like I’m going to get my chance.

Everyone who wants to make a statement about high gas prices should do so by consuming less gas.
P*&@ and moan sessions on IDA only sparks debates over supply, demand, oil companies…

You’re right. I’ve started carpooling into work as many days a week as I can. Usually around 3-4 days. It’s amazing how much further a tank of gas goes, if you don’t drive your car every day.

    Chamberschamps,

I hear that a lot from people about saying they are going to ride their bike soon. I said go right ahead. Not this cat, 15 miles is a touch far for me to ride, but if I worked close to where I lived I would be right with ya.

P.S. No one is P*&&ing and moaning either pal, all I stated was if gas hasn’t jumped in your area you better fill up because it is coming.

Just like the old saying A#$, gas or grass……..nobody rides for free!!!!!!

Didn’t mean to offend, pal. Nothing personal intended to IDA’ers either, more of a criticism towards people in general, maybe I should have said that differently. The only point I mean to make is that everyone is complaining abt high gas prices but most are not willing to take action.

I just got back from the Post Office, to find gas jumped 15 cents a gallon since this morning locally. I filled yesterday after listenening to the news yesterday morning and the predictions of increases coming.

My wife works for a convenience store whose prices are controlled by the home office in LAX, and she came home last night saying they were swamped with business. People coming in saying price was going to jump 25 to 30 cents by tomorrow. They also knew of some other stores in the chain that already had increased over 20 cents yesterday. I just talked to her while I was out, and she said they pumped DOUBLE their daily average yesterday. All I know is I would like to have the 15 cents/gallon for those gallons today. I wouldn’t need to work for a couple of months.

Nate told me he was told 3.20 in the Twin Cities. I didn’t ask him where in the Twin Cities though. On my way back to work from lunch break I saw lines on the street from both directions to get into a gas station for gas. Sure love my kicker motor, jon boat motor, elecric trolling motors and my Geo car. Maybe I’ll spend more time casting those B-Fish-N Tackle Plastics as those plastics save me lots of gas because I’m using elecric trolling motor power while fishing with them.
    Thanks, Bill

Here is my take on it. Plain and simple, it sucks But, what does a person do? I work 3 blocks from home, but I still drive All I can do is cut back on going to far and using the boat. I have it put away in storage right now. But, come hunting season, I will be using quite a bit more. I guess even if it does go higher, I will continue to drive until I am too broke to buy gas.

How is President Bush smiling all the way to the bank? Get real man! Get informed! A president does not control oil prices any more than you do. Ever hear of OPEC?

Bush was already rich. I think he would prefer a happy nation over a few more dollars in his pocket.

Clinton wasnt evil, he wanted the best for the nation. I didnt agree with him, but I believe he had the best of intentions too.

I dont understand why Bush is seen as evil by hippies. It is OK to disagree with him, but I doubt he is the type who takes pleasure in others misfortune.

Bush may not work for opec but when he retires back to Texas, He will be accepted as a hero by his peers who are making a fortune more this year than last and last year was a hell of a good year. He does like to kiss and hold hands with the opec cartel. He is now flip flopping about releasing the strategic oil reserves. He has no strategy for winning in Iraq either. Our soldiers are sitting ducks patrolling around in unsecure cities. I was much better off 8 years ago and things get worse every month.

You are right, you said nothing of President Bush controlling oil prices. You indicated he was smiling all the way to the bank in reference to the price of gas. You also indicated he owned an oil company in Texas. What is the name of it? Are we to assume also that he is getting rich because a 2X4 costs more today than yesterday? Afterall he owns some stock in a lumber company too. I really don’t like the price of gas either, but it will continue to rise as long as we continue to use it.

Like Bush or not, how could we not all agree he needs to step in and slow this oil problem down. You can all sit back and say not to use it, etc. but this is going to cause some severve problems if not addressed.

What would you have him do? Short of convincing all the chinamen in china to stop using oil there’s NOTHING anyone can do.

For a long time we had our greedy way with the oil supplies of this world and now other nations are industrializing their economies and they’re willing to pay for the fuel they need. We now find ourselves competing in a bidding war for a limited resource.

I find it intersting that we talk about using less, but as I mentioned in an earlier post, my wife works in a convenience store. They pumped double their daily average of gallons on Monday, and yesterday when prices went up 15 cents a gallon thing were a bit slower. That is until after 10pm when the evening news came on predicting prices would jump another 20 – 30 cents a gallon. She said they spent almost two hours with cars doubled up on each of the 12 pumps. I don’t like the prices either, but we certainly seem to be buying gas as much as ever if not more so.

The price of freedom is not cheap.

I’m thankful that we are not forced into a rationing program. If $3 a gallon gas is my only sacrifice for this war we find ourselves in, then I’ll pay it. Sit down with a WW2 Vet and you will soon realize how easy we still have it! Don’t forget for a minute that the people we are at war with want to kill all Americans and destroy the American way of life. They hit us once here in the States. Four years later, we are keeping them at bay. Not easy, not cheap.

I bought a small car that gets nearly 40 mpg. Gas seems pretty cheap driving that little bugger.

I hear what you are saying slop, but in order to make more money, you have to be driven to make more money. That sir, would be a commission job, where you control your income!

Another factor is that even through your wages are maintaining the average 4% growth, my brother works at Koch Oil (Flint Hills now) as a Union employee. His position is an Operator. No college degree required, but his Union job pays him almost $100,000 a year. Maybe if he and his co-workers didn’t all demand such high bucks for their positions, the gas would be cheaper?????

watching the news, the powers that be are saying that price gouging will not be tolerated in the hurricain ravaged area. well i think that the oil companies are gouging us all over the country. they all have had record profets over the past 5 years. how can gas shoot up .30 to .50 over night with just a hint of a problem somewhere where gas is produced or oil is drilled??? they are saying that 25% of our oil comes from the gulf, well 75% comes from someplace else. you would think that we could make-up that 25% pretty easy from the places that we get the majorty from…………..just my rambling thoughts, tom f

The throw a couple kids and $760 per month for daycare as a cherry on top. The sizable raise I got a couple years ago has dried up and blown away. The excuse I get every year for not getting any kind of raise makes me want to pack up and move to greener acres. If there are any.

I was asked not too long ago if my company offers a “COLA” plan. They sure do. I get a Cola for $.55 in the vending machine.

Bottom line, short of selling my truck, I’ve done all I can to use as little gas as possible. It just doesn’t seem to be enough.
