    Dear Family & Friends,

As you know, my husband Tim “Hooks” was diagnosed in February 2005 with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis); also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. It is a progressive neuromuscular disease that robs it’s victims of their muscle ability then atrophy (wasting away) sets in then paralysis of the body inside and out. During this the mind is unaffected. It is a fatal disease in which there is no cure for. In Tim’s case it is unknown how he got affected.

We have gotten tremendous support and help through the MN Chapter of ALS Association; from medical personal, literature, and loaner equipment for free.

On September 17, 2005, I am walking (as part of a team) in the “Walk to D’Feet ALS” in St. Cloud. Our team’s name is F.F.C = Fishing For a Cure. As you know, Tim is an avid fisherman and fishing is in his vocabulary constantly!

Would you consider sponsoring me in this or even joining us in the walk? With your donation, more studies can be done and will help keep the lending library free for people affected with this disease. The lending library has all sorts of assistive aids to speaking divices to electric wheelchairs to make daily living easier.

If you consider sponsoring me as I walk, please forward your check to me by September 9, and I will turn it in the day of the walk.

Checks: please make payable to: ALSA MN Chapter

    Mail to: Denise Hukriede

    hey hookswife,

I had the treat of having some lunch with the fine young man, I have sent my donation for this great cause.

sure wish I could join hooks and kooty for a lunch one day, but don’t look like it until the winter time and things slow down.

    thanks

I was wondering if I could drop off a check at your house on Thursday night?, as I work minutes from your house. I don’t have much but every little should help.

Tell Hooks it is from the son of the police officer that drove his mother or grandmother to church in crosslake back in the late 60’s early 70’s. Small world isn’t it.

Denise, I just saw this post, I was gone for a few days. Is there a way to send a check still. I can stick it in the mail today yet if that works.
