How do you explain 40 percent profits during wartime? Those profits are going to people that enjoy all of our freedoms but do not serve in our army, national guard or reserves. In my 13 years of service, I never met a wealthy soldier. If we brought back the draft the war would be over already.

40% profit margin is business. Imagine if you had 5000 pounds of lead for jigs, and there became a shortage of lead to make jigs for fishing. The price of lead would go up and you would make massive money. It is called business. It is all good!

We don’t need a draft…….How many years did we occupy Germany after WWII, or Korea after the Korean war??? Different subject though!!!!

    Steve,
as far as musky baits……..Sir, that is a mute point, because that is not an option…….you MUST have those!!!!

When i used to weld in the oil fields of wyoming i talked to a head driller of one of the big oil drilling operations and he said that if all the countries in the world shut us off tomorrow that theres enough oil in wyoming alone to last America 100 years. If theres that much oil in wyoming, and im sure there is, what about all the other available oil in reserves around the country. I listened to a radio talk show a couple of months ago about oil thats still in the ground in old wells. This oil engineer said with the improvements that have been made in drilling and recovery of the oil thats left in these old wells that he couldn’t understand why they weren’t retrieving the oil from all these resources. He said it would be cheaper to try to retrive it rather than buy it from the rest of the world. I also talked to a democratic represenative from the local office hear at election time and he said that all the oil from alaska is going to Japan, via our politicians and has been for along time. If its going to japan why in the heck is going there instead of for our use. I remember when they drilled for oil on the north slope of alaska and they said that it would be used by Americans and help the oil crunch of the 70’s. If i remember right they want to drill in the artic national wildlife refuge and thier reason is again it will help all americans, seems thats what they said about the north slope too. At $70 a barrell and the oil from the north slope going to the Japanese plus all the trouble in the mid east thats oil fired, things add up for me as saying some people in American business and politics have thier hands where they shouldn’t be, in my pockets!

Earlier in this post you stated “oil company profits are up 40 percent this year over last year.” I am sure you realize that a 40% increase over last year is not necessarily a 40 percent profit rate. This would only be the case if last years profit rate was 28.57%
