Fly Tying Vise

    Howdy,

    I’m looking for advice on fly tying vises. I have a couple of them but they aren’t strong enough for what I’m doing. The Bass Bugs I tie are on 2/0 hooks. Spinning deer hair onto these hooks takes a lot of force. The problem I have with my vise is that it doesn’t hold the hook in place. When I pull on the thread the hook moves too and makes it difficult to pack the hair in tight. I used to use a pair of vise-gip pliers clamped into the bench vice, and I may have to go back to that. Any ideas ?

    I just use a $10 vice myself, and I don’t have too much problems with Bass flies, I guess it really depends on how much you want to fork out for one.
