Spending the weekend in Duluth before my daughter starts this next year at school. Has anyone been on the St.Louis, or had any reports from there? Any info would be appreciated.

I made it back out yesterday for a couple hours in the evening chasing those toothy critters again. My new favorite bait for muskie/pike is anything topwater! How many did I catch?…..Zero! How many did I watch do summersaults, flips, “Jaws” like follows with fins out of the water, or create wakes like a submarine chasing my bait?….well about 8-9 fish did at least one of the previous mentioned stunts! All of em were in that 40-46 inch range I would guess. I may need to find some of those “bass sized” topwaters that James had, as they seemed to prefer them the other day, and maybe would have made a difference yesterday.

From what I have found, main channel points next to deeper water, with weed beds have been best. There is a ton of water I need to check out though! I haven’t even begun to explore the backwaters. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Oh ya, I did talk to a guy at the ramp who said he got a fair amount of small walleye and some crappies. No details though.

Your killing me All this talk about the Louie and I have no time to get up there until late september . The next 3 weeks are packed to the gills so to speak. Wedding stuff for my wifes sister, wife back to school, etc…. Keep the posts rollin boys, for the time being I will have to fish vicariously through your reports. Thanks for the updates on the river.
