I’m looking for a campground N. of Mille lacs or South of Aitkin area. I would do the usual ML trip but I’m bringing my young nephews and we all know how the pond can blow, it’s just to much with the young’ns! Does anybody know of a decent campground/tent place, preferably with a good eye population. How about the Farm Island campground?? Thanks in advance!

    Heya.

This isn’t really in the areas you mentioned but it’s such a nice spot you should give it a try. It’s called “Savanna state campground” it’s just north of Mcgregor and inside the campground there is a trout lake and a lake with bass and panfish, both have piers. Plus, it’s only about 10 minutes away from Horseshoe lake which has excellent walleye and Bass fishing right from shore. It is near Big Sandy river too, which also has good walleye fishing from shore. Even if you don’t go there this time, try it someday. The camp has alot of trails inhabited by deer and grouse, a real nice treat.I can give more info if you’re interested.

Remember, if you want to get to Emily, you will get to Aitkin before you get to Remer.

Farm Island would get my vote! walleye, panfish, and a good bass population also!
