i am going up around the hayward area muskie fishing at the end of this month. I have never gone muskie fishing in my life so i was wondering if anyone could tell me what lures i should use and maybe some spots that i could find some skies. Thanks

My suggestion is to take a few bucktails and topwaters and go to Big Sissabagama for a day. The north shorelines are always good as are the marked reefs. Sit just off the weededge and cast bucktails (twitch baits can be good, too) up over the weeds. Towards dusk, try topwater. Globes work really well out there.

    Simple advice, but effective!

Oh, and stop in at the resort on the north end of the lake for the fish fry on Saturday. It’s the best anywhere! I can’t remember the name of the place, but you can park your boat and eat there — look for the beer sign on shore. Incidentally, that’s usually a good section of the north end weedbed (though the weededge is pretty far from shore).

    Fish27-
I have a cabin in the Hayward area. First and formost you cannot talk about muskies without mentioning the chippewa flowage. Next I would look into Lost Land Lake or Teal. Have heard of some decent fish coming from teal this year. Last but not least don’t forget LCO it seems still hold some nice fish. If you need more guidance stop at Pastikas bait shop in hayward or checkout there online forum at http://www.pastikas.com.
