The gal along with our two four legged furry kids are thinking about planning a little get away up to the Chipp in August and I was looking for a camping place. I’ve heard people that just load up the boat and stay on an island. Can you just camp on any ol island or are there rules/regs or designated areas. Any help would be great.

    Thanks

There are designated islands for camping, if you can get a hot spot map of the lake, that will show most of them. There a a lot of them though and you should not have a problem finding one. Recommend a GPS for the Chip, it has floating bogs (islands) and it changes the perspctive of the lake. One minute you can go one way and then the wind comes up and there is not a way to get there from here. Enjoy

He’s right about the floating bogs. Sometimes they can block you into a place so be careful on a windy day. It is very big and you can get lost if you aren’t careful. Just to let you know too to bring skeeter dope….lots of it. The warm weather up there hast them on a feeding frenzy.

Thanks Guys. As far as camping on the islands, can I just show up on a designated island and camp or is there a reservation process (I can’t imagine there is). I just want to be somewhere that the dogs can run without bothering anyone.
