I am trying to put together a last minute camping trip for my entire family. This would entail about 4-5 sites, most tents but a 5th wheel thrown in there as well.
Fishing is VERY important but also the ability to tube, water fun along with amenities like showers, bathrooms, playground for young kids.
    ANY Suggestions??
We are looking at the week of July 24-29.
    Minnesota or Wisconsin areas
    Thanks

BIG SANDY LAKE in Aitkin County just about 10-15 miles North of McGregor on MN HWY 65 has Army Cor Campground on the NE corner with Tenting sites and Camper/RV sites. The South side (Entrance)Campground is on the Lake. Very clean with showers, etc, electric hook ups, docks for boats and etc. Family went there for years before we got the cabin up there. Still put the boat in there occasionally and fish the river also. The campground is located at the dam which leads into the ole Miss a sip! If the flow is right, there great shore fishing on the river side (just down stream from the river boatlaunch on the other side of the river or right below the dam. ( I have caught Muskies, Eyes, Northern, Smaillies, Perch, Rough Fish, Perch and Crappies all below the dam from shore). There are boat ramps to the river side and lake side. It has a swimming beach, playground, with the ability to tube out on the fairly large lake.

If you have any other questions feel free to pM me for more info on fishing!

For something closer to home, I would suggest Blackhawk Park. The park looks clean and well run and is right on the main channel

Hey thanks for the suggestion so far.
    Keep them coming.

    Thanks Gary,
Being from Cannon Falls the lake is just a bit to close to home. It is a very nice place though. The bass fishing is a bit slow, at least a week ago it was.

    Did you hook anything?

I have made it a personal vendetta to figure out the bass fishing in this lake.

Yep, tie me to the whipping post and I’ll take my beating………but I’m after these rubber lipped brownies and greenies in this lake.

I’m going to put the eyes on hold for a few weeks until I can get a grasp on this lake.

I will still be chasing skis though!!!!

That dog-gone Dave C. has turned me to the dark side!!!!!

If you want great fishing, plus a good lake to ski and such on, try any one of the numerous resorts on Lake of the woods, You could even try the Warroad city Campground, which is located right on the lake front, with a pool, restroom facilties, RV hook up sites AND tent sites. This is a nicely maintained campground, there’s a casino and lake side restauraunt within walking distance, plus the city of warroad has shopping and groceries right there. There’s also a few good Adult Beverage serving establishments within walking distance (5 in town, 4 more within 7 miles) And a few of them have live bands on Friday and Saturday nites a few weekends a month. I may also add the the walleye fishing has been superb

    Gary,
You will have to get Dave to give you all of his hot spots. We had none There is only one area that we tried though.
Let me know when you strike the Green and Brown gold out there.
    Later
