Loss in the fishing family.

    Hi all,

    Please keep Joel (aka MisterMom, DrewsDad), his wife Jeanine and their children in your thoughts and prayers as they lost their oldest son this morning.

    Jonathan “Johnny” was a great kid who loved family, Grandpa, and loud hilarity of all sorts… actually he had a great since of humor and loved too many things to list here…

    Joel will check the board when things slow down, he knows everyones thoughts and prayers are with them.

    Please feel free to post links to this thread in other portions of the site, but for simplicity please also add a note to keep comments in this thread so he can look in one place.

    I always thought that a parent that losses a child has to be the worst thing that could ever happen.

    you are correct, it is the hardest thing that I have ever had to do and I know it will be for him too. the 2 things that carried me through it was my love for the Lord and great friends that where there when I needed a shoulder or an ear. I will hold your family close in my prayers and if any time you need a shoulder or an ear. please feel free to email or PM, I am online every night.

    Being a parent, i hurt just from reading the post. Please remember that God has a plan and as mere mortals many times we don’t understand it. The Simmons family will remember you tonight and for many nights to come in our prayers.

    I don’t have children, but my number one goal is to outlive my parents. Can’t imagine the pain of losing a kid.

    Being a father myself, I too felt the same way. The loss of a child has got to be one of the hardest things in life to endure. My heart truly goes out to anyone who has been there before.

    I too, join the list of those whose heart sinks at the very news of anyone losing a child. I do not know what I would feel….. or what I would do…… but no matter, I know it would be painful and very difficult.

    I imagine that I would try to focus on being thankful for the priviledge of knowing them, raising them, and loving them….. and hoping it’s enough to take each day as it comes. But…… I’m also thinking I’d have to turn the whole matter over to the Lord….. as I’m not big enough to fix anything or supply the comfort I’d seek. I think I’d need Him dearly to help me through.

    I pray here now and ask God to give you all the strength to place all dependence on Him and that He’ll use all of us here at IDA to help get you through it, one day at a time. May He fill you with the hope that there is no goodbye, only a delay in your next visit.

    I am also sorry to hear of your loss. I can’t imagine how you feel, and there probably aren’t enough words to make you feel better at a time like this. But, you can be assured there are a lot of people on IDA that are thinking of you and your family.

    My wife Jenine and I and the rest of our family would like to thank all of the good folks at IDA for your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Jonathan was a very special boy and we were lucky to have him for the ten years that we did. Jonathan had cerebral palsey and was very physically disabled. But he had a sharp mind and a real love of life and the people around him. Even though his health has never been great his sudden death was quite a shock and unexpected.

    His wake is tomorrow evening at West funeral home in West St. Paul from 5-8. And the funeral is at St. Joseph’s Church in West St. Paul at 11:00 a.m. The Minneapolis and St. Paul newspapers will have complete obits and more information in tomorrow (Tuesday’s) paper. Again, thank you everyone at IDA! It is truly appreciated!
