i changed both bulbs , the fuse is good , all my other lights work , except for my brake lights . unfortunatly im not very versed in electrical work so im hoping someone here might know where to begin to look to find the problem.

any help would be appreciated. thanks

Do you have signals?? Typically the signal and the brakes are on the same wire so if you have signals you should have brakes. Also if the signals work then it isn’t the bulb since the signal and brake use the same filament.

I would suggest getting a wire tester, the kind you can poke into the wire and see if there is juice. Test a wire you know is hot then start checking for the brake wire.
Work from the light forward or the fuse panel back.

    Good luck….I hate wiring problems.

Well with out proper tools(test light or volt meter). My next question would be “is there wiring for a trailor?” If so I would bet someone spliced into the trucks wiring harness to supply the lights for the trailor….The splice for the brake lights must have corroded to the point of breaking. Moisture kills wires! This is just a guess.

I had a similar issue on my 97 F-150 and It was a fuse up under the hood, not the traditional fuse spot by your knees at the wheel. Just a thought !

Are you sure you have a good ground. 90% of trailer light problems are because of a pour ground.

Brake lights as in ….on the Blazer, or the trailer? If its the Blazer…check the fuses, if its the trailer..as Bret said, make sure you have a good ground and the bulb sockets arent corroded.

bret is right check the ground really good. Also if you are sure that is not it then get a small wire brush and clean out the connections on both your blazer and the trailer. You should have a cover for that plug at the blazer and the trailer. We have another cord that we cut the ends off and used that as a plug cover, works greeat

if you have turn signals but no brake lights on the blazer it may be the brake light switch on the pedal I have replaced many. You can jumper the conn. at the switch on the brake pedal to check. Worst case I have replaced a few turn signal switches on chevys that old because the brake cicuit goes through the signal switch good luck.

would the brake light switch be under the hood or under the dash behind the pedal?. the brake lights work good on my trailer when hooked up to my other truck though.
