YAMAHA Outboard ????

I was just wondering if anyone out there has heard off or knows anyone who has heard of problems with 1999 Yamaha Vmax’s.It’s a 150 and I talked to one guy who said they have ignition problems. Anyone have any experience or thoghts on this?? Thanks Brad

Hey, I had a 1998 V-Max 150. I had it on the back of my 1800 Pro V for about 15 minutes before it blew. I took it to many different dealers and they all said that they have major problems. They even knew which cylinders would blow first. I put a 150 merc on and have had no problems at all. Hope this helps.

Which dealers did you talk to ??

There has got to be a ton of these things out there.

I’ve talked to quite a few service dept. that say they have never heard anything like that.

Was it new when it blew? (15 min.)

I am not going to take away the integrity of the dealers I talked to in case they were wrong. I can tell you that Yamaha directly told the service department what was wrong with my motor before they had a chance to tell Yamaha. They said I could fix it but it would probably do it again. I know that it wasn’t because they wanted to sell me another motor because I bought my new merc on line from texas and the service center here rigged it for me. I know there are a ton of them out there and they run really strong. The hour meter read 8 hours on my motor when I bought it and she blew like I said first time out. Just relaying what I know.
