what do not call list seems everything now adays has some sort of loop hole
If they didnt try to complete a sale over the phone or if they have ever done business with you in the past, the list is worthless. Companies are also allowed a time frame to get thier lists updated.
We didn’t get on the list. People I know that are on the list get a lot more calls than we do. Kind of makes you wonder.
lol Someone from the government probably sold that list to the telemarketers.
JDm,
if you happen to be from Wisconsin and registered for the no call initially, you need to register again. I suspect it can be done via the Internet.

Federal Do Not Call Registration
There are countless exceptions to the do not call list. I got this off of the website above:
29. If I register my number on the National Do Not Call Registry, will it stop all telemarketing calls?
No. Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you’ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls.
When the open season on tuna boats and jetskis is official, may it please include all telemarketers

I usually tell them that I live in a card board box and my dog lives with me. that usually ends up getting my name and number taken off the list pretty fast. I turn it on them and tell them where I am located somewhere in the city and tell them that I still want my free quote.

There are two ways to handle telemarketers if you do not want the call.
1) Answer the phone like your drunk and pump up the telemarketer like you are interested. Make him repeat himself alot, and ask silly questions……..
2) Answer the phone and then put it down, or put them on hold by pushing the flash button and dialing a friend.
Or
If you are on the “do not call” list………..Ask to speak to management of the manager. Get a name and return phone number. Then threaten to call and turn them in for trouble.
We have a very small department here at work for telemarketing. There is a very specific method to getting the numbers we call. We also “scrub” (per federal & state laws) the phone numbers through the register. If you are on the “do not call” register and are called, the company calling you has broken the law. Whether they did it on purpose or not is not excusable…..Therefore, leaves them subject to lawsuit by you. A legitimate lawsuit. So, if this happens, again speak to the managers’ manager and request $2,000 in compensation or threaten to take them to court…………You may be surprise in what you get in the mail!!!!
By the way, I’m serious with this statement above.
They can also duck the system this way….
You need to specifically say “Add me to your do not call list” Not “Take me off your calling list”
I do the old Sienfeld routine on them. “Sorry, I’m busy right now. Give me your number and I’ll call you back later….”

One time a telemarketer was trying to give away a “free” trip…so I told him that I like spending money and hung up on him. He then called me back and said something like “you think you’re pretty funny huh?” Before I could respond to that, he hung up on me. I was just a little
I remember getting one at work and the guy asked me what my position was, I told him sitting down. He called me a smart #$@ and I said hey you called me remember…
I work for a company with a number of Telemarketers. Most of these people are really wonderful, friendly, good folk. There are a few that we’ve had come through the doors that will behave like the two above examples. They get let go very quickly. People think that this is an easy job, but it’s not. I’m not defending the actions of a lot of companies, but there are legitimate companies out there doing this legally.
I hate the phone calls at home too…. I’m on the Federal Do Not Call List… I hope my boss doesn’t know that. Of course, he’s probably on it too.
Steve is right! Our telemarketer’s are very good people.
AND BELEIVE IT OR NOT, it is a booming business. Many many people who have been turned down by the local banks for a home mortgage feel that they cannot buy or refinance their home. The programs we offer and can do, take care of people.
Even though many people complain about telemarketing, there are also many, many people who benefit from the service.
Otherwise it wouldn’t be happening today!
I say that I am not interested, but my friend Jon Jordan is and here is his home, work and cell number.

THANKS DAVE!!!!
I’ll get our people right on that one!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought I had blocked call…blocking (?)
But last week I got a call from someone, came up as unavailable with no phone number…
Never did hear who they were…I played a little trick on them and they hung up on me…then called back a few minutes later…to get the last…er cough in I wanted to return the favor..but couldn’t because I didn’t have a number…
How can this be?
I havent had a single call in over a year. …maybe thats because I got rid of my “lnd line” and the wife and I use only cell phones now.
