I’m really surprised nobody has chimed in here. It isn’t like IDA is short of opinions…

Are we headed towards a possible Monopoly? Is this good or bad for the consumer down the road? Does it really even affect us ??

Come on! I want to hear opinions!

A monopoly towards ruining a bunch of boat lines. Sure they keep the same designers for a couple years, but then make their own changes after that. All boat lines end up looking all the same with the different names in a few years. Just as you already have with Crestliner/Lowe…these used to be two totally different looking boats. Too many “oars” in the water, will cause bad repercussions to the quality of the boats and to Brunswick.

The monopoly I worry about is that soon you will buy their boat and have to buy their motors also. Triton and Mercury, G3 and Yamaha, ECT.

You don’t have to buy Yamaha with a G3, but you will pay more if you choose a different brand. The same will happen with a Brunswick boat.

I liked the old days of not having to pay more for your choice of boats and motors, you just needed to find a dealer with what you wanted.
