Gas Prices

    Wiskerkev;
Gas stations won’t run out of gas, but I do remember my father complaining about the 10 gallon rations of the mid-70s………During the Carter administration………

Gas stations won’t run out of gas, because of what my sister does in the buying/selling market. If Koch can’t supply Holiday, Koch will buy from Amoco, to get the gas to Holiday, which is why Koch has to sell for a higher price, to recover the cost absorbed by Amoco. Thus, Amoco is allowed to sell higher, because Koch is……Ergo, Amoco makes a ton of money for a short period of time……… (This is purely example)

Most gas stations get atleast 1 dump a day, if not 2. So, they won’t run out of gas. However, that explains the price difference from one end of town to the other, day by day. They put their mark up at the cost of the gas bought for that dump of the day…….

Yea, just like the Dems claimed Bush was going to reduce the price of gas right before the last election. Fact > it didn’t happen. Why, he has no control of it.

My Brother in law works out at Koch, and he said it takes 17 minutes to fill a tanker, and it goes on 24/7. Nonstop.
    Pretty impressive.

You certainly can’t fault people who work for these companies. The people at the top who look at demand and set the prices never loose money ever. They never have a worry in the world until the feds start talking about regulating the industry. Which will never happen with people like squeaky clean Tom Delay in charge.

Gasoline happens to be one of the most regulated comodity in the US. How about getting rid of all government controls on gas. I can guarantee the price would plummet.

Wisker, do you make this stuff up as you go along?

I can back up everthing I have posted with facts. What do you want to learn more about.

Can you support the above claim with facts. Bought and paid for…? Huh? Let’s face it. You have not backed up any of your comments with factual arguments. Come on. Gimme one link to a website. Gimme some court ruling. Show me a formal charge.

Unlike Clinton who was disbarred as a lawyer, spent too much time in courts fending off lawsuits then eventually impeached leaving the office in disgrace. None of that can be said or even implied toward President Bush.

Wisker, just one fact from your liberal sprawl would benefit the conversation.

    Jon,

I would argue that anything presented by the govt, media, or industry is spun for consumption of either the left or the right. The true measure of intelligence is to those who know when they are being fed a bill of goods. So far in our conversations you have proven an expert on indian rights, gasoline prices, and the crime rate in China.

    Slop,

I will be in La Crosse next weekend. I would love to have a beer with you and talk fishing or politics.

Thank you! At least I can back up what I say with documented facts. Not a so called “bill of goods….” Which I know when I see it!

Yea, yea, yea….. go do a google search on Clinton or Kerry, you’ll find the same BS.

By the way, I did read the page. Didn’t see in there any allegations that President Bush has personally inflated gas prices to pad his bank account….. Are those black helecopters I hear over my house?

I love that DNC site. Tear down the other guy because there’s nothing good to say about your guy!

It amazes me what they do and say about each other!

Thanks for your support Chamber Champs. The apologists hate it when they don’t get the last word.

    Jon,

The chinese are still shooting hundreds of those non-criminals each year, the tribes will keep spearing just to agravate the white man, and we will always pay higher gas prices with a Texas oil man in charge. These are also facts and not propaganda. You make my point above when you say you get the same BS whenever you google.

Unfortunately, we really didn’t have a lot of good things to say this time around. Hopefully DNC will get their act together by the next round of elections.

Guy took over in germany a few years back. The economy skyrocketed and crime rates plummeted. Oh, yeah, he caused the death of millions of people too. Personally, banning partial birth abortion ( a definate accomplishment) doesn’t excuse a war based on a lie.

As an added note, I only piped in to stand up for the “Dems” which “seem” to be causing all the worlds problems. Unfortunately, bush lovers and bush haters will never see eye to eye. I’m glad he’s a uniter and not a divider.
Hang in there whisker, we only have three and a half years left. We just gotta keep his brother out of Washington.

We can banter about this for the next 3.5 years but lets not.

I really do not care if gas is 1.90 or 2.90. I can not control prices but I need gas for the boat, truck ect. I guess if it jumps up 10 cents it is an extra 2.50 to fill up the truck. I still need to go to work. I am still going to fish as much as time and family allows.

I agree slider. When I go to the bait store and pay $5.00 to &6.00 dollars for a lure, I don’t complain. I may wonder why the price keeps going up? But I pay the price because wages and benefits keep going up like everyone else’s. Do I like the price we have to pay at the pump now day’s? No!! But is it going to stop me from going fishing, golfing, or going to the lake with my family? Not me it won’t. Sorry. Just had to vent

I’ve been biting my lip watching this one. I read the first one listed, and saw the old line liberal rhetoric right away! Who do you think gathered all that great “Info” on Iraq? The Clinton Administration! The same administration that reduced the armed forces to a level that was unfit, untrained, and ill equipped to go into a battle to protect the US! We have been scrambling ever since to re-equip our military! Have you seen the issue with armor on HumVees? Yep, you guessed it. Federal budget cuts during the Clinton Admn. forced manufacturers to buy them “On the cheap”. We were warned about this when they were being built! We are VERY lucky that Kerry did not get elected! You think gas is taxed enough now? It is an easy target because it is a commodity that gets turned over (Inventory wise) very quickly, and can generate HUGE sums of cash quickly for pet programs! I think Bush is doing a good (Maybe not great…)but good job in trying to convince the Saudi’s to kick it into high gear, and manufacture more barrels bringing the price per barrel down. He proposed building refineries on old military bases! Great idea! How about the jobs it would bring with it! He proposed drilling in the Arctic, great idea! For 25 years we could survive on our own oil! Do you think that would bring the price per barrel down? You bet! Just the threat of it would! But the Saudis are smart! They know it will never happen with our liberal friends in congress! So threats wont work! If we are the ones using the gas/oil, we should take some responsibility in the aquiring of it. The Arctic Refuge is ours! We should use it for our purposes! The liberals find no problem with other countries raping THEIR land for OUR oil! Just don’t do it here!
Whew! I’ll sit back and watch the fireworks.

Isn’t it true that we get more oil from Canada than we do from the Saudi’s ?

I’ll ask tomorrow. I am going to Toronto! I was on my way to Missouri and the office turned me around, and I leave for Toronto in the morning! Talk about expensive gas! They are paying up to $.87 CAD per litre!

    Chris,

I respectful disagree with everything you said. The Arctic National Wildlife refuge is not ours it is for the wild life. Our hunting habitats are being encroached upon, our waters are polluted with mercury, and at every step the clean air act is being watered down. In todays paper I read about United Airlines defaulting on their pension plans was approved by a judge. This could hit some of their retirees 10k / year. So save your money if you aren’t spending it all on gas and put it somewhere safe because no retirement plan is safe. I am off my soapbox. I need to vent sometimes. Thanks to Jon for the help.

One more… Go out to http://www.google.com and type in

    Why is gas so expensive

You will have more to read than you have time to. None of it implies there is a Bush conspiracy to steal your money! All 3rd part stuff that I can’t make up…..all of it is Supply vs Demand.

Might want to do a little reading on that topic also. I’ll let you find 3rd party info.

But here is an interesting fact. Comparring ANWR to the size of an NFL football field, drilling would occur in an area the size of the zero on the 50 yard line. It’s not like we are going in and strip minning the entire area. Just something to chew on…..

My point exactly. I don’t expect everyone or anyone to agree with me. I really think we need to control our own destiny. If we let the Saudi’s or Kuwaitis, ir Iraqi’s take advantage of us…they will!
