That must be nice….The La Crosse/La Crescent area is still a geological gas oddity @ $2.06. Winona had gas for $1.99 yesterday. I filled up in Lansing after a fishing tripon Saturday and paid $1.96. I wish someone could logically explain why the gas in my area is some much higher. Winona is 20 min. to the north and Lansing is 35 min. south.
Speaking of a good kick in the nuts and bolt, $2.25 in Hayward get out to 35 E and 1.85
30 gal tank at a .40 difference that 2 lunches gone this week!
I know that trucking it up there is a little more expensive but .40 come on!
I barely get that for reimbursment for my own mileage!
I saw $1.89 in Champlin yesterday. I cannot believe I actually thought that was a great deal. I swear they hike the prices up purposely to get you to feel like anything less than $2.00 is a bargain.
Twin Cities Gas Prices is a website I found to have updates regularly on fuel prices all over the metro.
Worth a check before you hit the road next.
Gas in Dubuque is about the same as LaCrosse. Why it is so much higher than small towns like Lansing I will never know. With the Cabelas National Team Walleye Tournament coming at the end of the month coupled with the Memorial Day Weekend I would imagine that Dubuque gas prices will go through the roof.

I couldn’t believe it when I saw the gas prices were $2.26 in Stevens Point yesterday, when it was $2.06 in La Crosse. I’m not sure if shipping costs have something to do with it or the amount of gas is sold in the town?
I was happy to see gas in Madison drop to 2.18 last week. Guess I better rent a tanker and go get a load in Minnesota. Even though I know you can’t do anything about it and just have to pay the piper, I still get pissed every time I fill up.
blue, its the taxes that make the difference in mn, wi and iowa. wisconsin has like a 40 cent tax on every dollar and i know min is usually about a dime cheeper and im not sure abot iowa but the diff in the states in the tax
Speaking of gas. Heard last week the Gov is going to sign into law a bill that requires all gas in Minnesota to contain 20% ethanol. I have to believe there will be a lot of boat motors that will not like that mixture!

The Eau Claire, WI area is always one of the most expensive places with almost no deviation in prices throughout the entire city. Everyone I know that goes to MN at some point will always put in just enough to get there and fill up.
Today gas is $2.23. Last Thursday it was $2.29.
It’s robbery.
I knew about WI’s gas tax. I guess I wasn’t sure why Winona is cheaper than La Crescent. I suppose if you wanted to speculate, one could rationalize WI’s prices keep the prices in La Crescent higher because they are so close. If you bought gas at Fleet Farm and got a gas coupon you could get it for $1.95.
I think Kooty should start suppling us all with gas…St Bonni yesterday $1.89… couple miles down the road it was $1.85.
Hutchinson and Woodbury…$1.99 or higher.
Just goes to show that it’s not the mideast that’s controling prices…it’s us.
Going to look into that. I just put a new E-TEC on my boat and hope it does not suffer because of that.
Your right Brian. We live so far out west, that we need the cheaper gas prices!!! The holiday in St Boni is usually the cheapest around. I didn’t look this morning as I flew past, but it was 1.89 on Saturday. I saw 1.87 on my way to Lake City last weekend also.
I am sure stations will still have pumps with the normal 10% ethanol. Many stations in Hastings still offer gas with no ethanol for classic cars, snowmobiles, motorcycles and boats. They will probably soak us a little extra for it. Yet another reason to go E-TEC! I just gassed up yesterday for my third time since September of last year! This is my first full tank! I may not have to gas up until next September!

I was a little concerned when I heard this as well. I purposely avoid the 10% that some stations dump in their gas now… 20%?
I can’t wait to have my carbs plug up with gummy crap and watch my fuel filters restrict. Then my motor will run rough and I’ll get worse fuel economy. Perfect!!
This is really going to be a problem for people who don’t use their boat frequently, they’re likely to have a lot of water in their fuel tank due to ethanol’s tendency to absorb it.
Wonder who is really putting the pressure on T.P. for this?

The way I understand it, all of the 10% pumps will go to 20%. The non-oxy tanks are almost always premium and costs more. Plus not every station sells non-oxy gas.

Premium gas HAS ethanol in it. That is what makes it premium. Remember back in the old days when they used to call premium “Ethyl”? The unleaded gas I can buy in Hastings has no ethanol in it. It is not included in the 10% restriction because they state on the pump “This fuel can only be used in Classic Cars, Smowmobiles, Motorcycles, Boats or Lawn Mowers.”
Although Ethanol gums up engines, its cleaner for enviornment and boosts farm jobs.
According to a report on AOL this morning Minnesota has the lowest gas prices in the nation at an average of $1.95 for regular unleaded; the highest is San Francisco at $3.05 per gallon.
Amen Joe. I hope they make them all 40% ethanol!! Anything to get our economy growing for the locals is good by me. I run Seafoam through all my motors at least twice a year and haven’t had any problems yet.
What I don’t understand is why the price at the docks is higher than the price at the pump. All of that fuel should be off-road fuel with a dye in it. They are chargng us more for a fuel that they pay less for than a regular fuel station. They don’t have to pay any of the highway taxes on any of that dyed fuel. Thats a little food for thought next time you pull up to the dock and see that price on the pump.
Going back to the Eau Claire area. We have one huge ethanol plant in Stanly and we have a huge tank farm. In Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls area we should have low prices. The gas people get 50 miles from here is cheaper than getting the gas right in that town. Stupid I tell ya.
Right Tuck,
But you can’t get the non-oxy in an 87 octane. It all 90 or above and costs a lot more!

From everything I have read about the production of ethanol, it currently consumes more energy to produce than it puts out. When you factor in all of the gas, diesel, electricity during the growing of corn and the production of the alcohol, the energy it consumes to produce exceeds the output. Now, that may change in the future, but right now this is just an example of the government fixing a problem that does not exist!

Filled up for $1.86 a gal. in plymouth at noon here. Filled both tanks, figure it will probably go back up Wednesday!
