I’m glad they are doing something about the overpopulation. One quote that got me ruffled and should be shared with the Mille Lacs band:

“Tribal businesses are involved in tourism, gaming and recreation,” he said. “There’s some real concern that if the fish aren’t here, guests won’t be either.”

Apparently not every tribe minds raping resources.

Killing them on Leech is a start, but there are lots of other smaller lakes that are getting hit as hard or harded by cormorants. Leech has a huge population, but also has a lot of fish to support the birds. I see groups of 20-30 working small lakes and I wonder what the effect of that is?

Seems like now a days, if you lake has an island on it, you have them. It seems to take about 2 years to kill off all the vegitation on the island. Hopefully this is a start to getting things under control.

All they’d have to do is open a season on the worthless things during duck hunting and there would be plenty that would get thinned out.
They are pretty worthless in my eyes.

With a little vinegar and onion, they taste just like pickled musky ! !

I’m sure the racoons would say they tasted great.

I’d say they taste a lot like loon.

I wish they’d take shooting volunteers to help thinning the herd on Leech.
