    Hi All,
My grandma who passed away a couple years ago painted some pictures….one in particular of a grouse on a log…it is amazing, it is one of the best grouse paintings I have ever seen.
Does anyone know who I can contact to check into getting high quality prints made from the original??
I know everyone in the family wanted the original…this way we can all have at least a copy.
    Thanks for your help!

    Buckshot,

If you can get a good digital photo or image put on cd, I might be able to help you. I have some good digital priners that won’t do your painting a disservice. They print in large format so getting a size you want will not be an issue. Getting the painting scanned or photogragraphed will be the biggest issue.

I’m willing to help, just let me know how.

    Buckshot,

There is a scanner/printer made by a company called Giclee that makes excellent reproductions, although rather spendy at low volumes. Several print shops in the TC area have this equipment. There used to be one in Mound, Burnsville, Eden Prairie, Hastings, etc. Just do a Google search on Giclee and look for shops near your zip code. Pm me if you want some help.

If these pictures mean a lot to you, then I would suggest you get them reproduced in a fashion that you and your family would be proud to display and pass down through the generations.

My son has a photography business in Rochester, MN that specializes in this type of work. Valued paintings and aged photographs are reproduced and digitally enhanced to look like an exact original. Once the picture has been perfectly reproduced in a digital format, high quality prints can inexpensively be made in different sizes for all the members of your family to enjoy.

Here is a text excerpt from my son’s Elite Digital Photo webpage at http://www.elitedigitalphoto.com/fine_arts.htm where there are also examples of this type of work for you to view. ”This gallery illustrates Digital Archiving in fine form. It preserves the medium of the artists work right down to the texture of the canvas, brush strokes, and type of paint used. Eyes trained in painting can clearly tell what is water color, acrylics, and other techniques used.”

A suggestion would be to take all the pictures you want reproduced to a place like Elite Digital Photo that specializes in this type of work. To get a perfect job can be a lot more complex than most people realize. For more information on this subject go to http://www.elitedigitalphoto.com

If you decide to do this in the Mpls area, then I would suggest you look for a photography shop that is skilled in both advanced photography techniques and computized digital enhancements.

Thanks Dave!! This sounds like the best way to go…the pictures do mean a lot and having something that mirrors the original right down to the last detail is what I am looking for. She did quite a few paintings but the Grouse picture she did was so far and away her best work.
    I will email/call your son.
