Lead lining helps to take number 5 and number 7 shad raps deep in the water column with current.

The other thing you can do is to use snap weights. 3/4 oz to 1 1/2 oz weights..50 feet in front of your crank. you really need line counter reels to play this system.

    Just a couple of hints.

    Hope it helps.

I have run them on three ways..36 inch dropper and a 10 to 12 footleads depending on the plugs but it makes netting fish tough.

The other thing I have that I haven’t used in a while is wire line. I have a reel spooled with wire line. It gets right down there on a three way system.

    Good luck have fun experimenting..

Like RR said, lead lining will get your cranks down that deep no problem!

And with lead there is no need for line counters.

    Good Luck

Try a 1oz snap weight 20 feet in front of your shadraps to gain 33% 10ft=13 12=16 and so on Also try shallow shadraps on your three ways good luck have fun

Instead of investing in line counter reels you can buy a clamp on counter made by Shakespeare. I think they run around 15.00 bucks and work on most rods. They seem to be fairly accurate.
