End of this month I will be out searching for this wonderful fungus and hopefully coming back with some great pictures of the patches.

Looking forward to it. We got the moisture but need some heat. Warm humid night really helps. I also keep an eye on the lillac bushes. Usually have my best luck about the time they bloom.

Where you find morrels is probably the most kept secret there is, by those who hunt them.

    Here’s a hint,….in the woods.

I would imagine there are some starting to show up down in Iowa somewhere by now. Any reports?

Hunting mushrooms? Do you sit in a stand and call them in? The only ones I have had came in a can or ground up in a bong.

I had to quit hunting mushrooms after all my decoys and calls got stolen.
But they are getting some greys in southern Iowa now.

I think we’re about a week to 10 days away. I’m located 20 miles noth of the Quad cities. Can’t wait. We had a really bad year here last year. No rain after it got warm. We heard the hunting was really good up around Prairie du Chien.

    Hey Scott!
I live in an area that I think will have a lot of mushrooms and hopefully morels. I’m going to find out in a week or two. My question for you is why do you go out at night?

I’m new to the whole picking shrooms deal and I gots lots of questions. And yes I am planning on being safe and having a guidebook and an experienced person check my pickings. I had enough psychadelic experiences 20 years ago. Thank you sir!

….another good indicator is when the mayflowers (or that’s what I call them) blossom, the mushrooms should be out. Dead Elms and apples are good places to look. Start on east facing hills, and look on the downsides of the trees. Good luck.

I can honestly say that I’ve only eaten 1 shroom in my life. For the life of me, I can’t imagine eating them…

Then a buddy down in IA, served me a Morel a few years ago. Simply amazing!!!
