Hey guys and gals, I need your help. Some of the post and jokes have been getting alittle out of hand for being a family site. We want everyone, including little fisherpersons, to be able to come here and not get any bad ideas or read anything not so good so to speak from all of our posts. We don’t have the strick rules like some sites where if you post something in bad taste ”you” are zapped from the site. We trust everyone here to keep their post clean which shows how much trust and respect we have for you. Thank you in advance for helping to keep this a great family fishing site where all are welcome no matter what their age, nationality, race, and gender. You all are an important part of this site. Thanks.
    Thanks, Bill

    How’s this, Bill.

Grandpa and grand daughter were driving to town to get a soda when he accidently hit the horn.
Grandpa: ‘I did that by accident”
    Grand daughter: ‘I know, Grandpa.’
    Grandpa: ‘How did you know?’
Grand daughter: ‘You didn’t say #$@# idiot.’
We’ll keep it clean, right Eyejacker?

Thanks for the understanding of what I am trying to accomplish here with my post. As we all try to pass along our love of fishing to friends and children and grandchildren we gain more viewers and some of them are young. Can you imagine some young boy or girl passing on a joke from this site and his mom or dad hear it and ask where he/she learned that. Guess what site he/she is banned from by mom and dad. And guess what site gets a bad repution by the dad and mom telling their friends about the site with bad jokes. As we all know telling stories get bigger and bigger as they go on and the next thing you know we are called a porn site as what other kind of site would parents ban their kids from. Ok, hopefully it doesn’t go that far but I think/hope you understand what I’m trying to say. I know we all want to keep this site clean and fun and keep the fishing info being shared and we can all do that by keeping an eye/ear on what we are really saying/sharing. I just want to see this site remain a top notch fishing site like everyone who shares has made it be. Thanks Everyone.
    Thanks, Bill

Yesterday we had a first grade girl register on the site. She loves fishing with her Dad and now wanted to have her own name and password to come on here instead of just reading the post with her Dad. This morning I just learned that an 11 year old boy will be signing up to join us. Its very easy to sign up here and even easier to just come on the site and read what everyone is posting. Don’t even need mom or dad around around to help you do that. So its VERY important that we keep things clean here. One of these days your own children will want to come on here just to see what Dad is reading or if they like fishing they will want to come on here to read about fishing on their own instead of just doing it with Dad. Thanks everyone for helping to keep this the best fishing site around and also for helping keep this a site that is good enough for your kids to read too.
    Thanks, Bill

Keeping it clean is a worthwhile goal, but to be honest, people who let their 6 and 11 year olds surf the Internet unattended might as well be telling them to go play street hockey on the 110 through downtown L.A.

Having certified that I am 18 years of age or older, can you PM me a link to the offensive material? I missed it the first time. If it’s just the “racy banter” and “Briank in a dress” stuff, I didn’t think anything went beyond what you’d hear in bait-shop talk.

I don’t think that IDA has any posting guidelines, but we all understand the rules:

#1. Exhibit good manners, or James will nuke you.
#2. For complaints and comments, refer to rule #1.

I too agree with Gianni. Like I said before, I will be more mindful of what I am posting/saying, but allowing children to surf the web on their own accord is not ok. Granted, I bet Mr. Patrick (he just seems like that type of guy )is watching his little girl while she is on here, but yes, some of the posts which may be ok for us to read – even thou we are not using any bad words or the such when we write them, they still may not be ok for children to read. Also, we could even bring up the smilies being used here – to us adults, we know we are just joking, but to a child – it looks like we are promoting killing someone with an axe, acting like a devil, getting angry, beer drinking, and mooning.

I am sorry if I have offended anyone by saying this, but it is just my opinion – thanks for letting me express it.

I think the sensitivity to language and inuendo is good to observe. For everyone no matter what age. But, I would be really be bummed out if we became so politically correct that we become a “Milktoast Website” too. Putz on a motorcycle, Brian in dresses, things like that make me laugh a lot! The world needs that! We have to be able to laugh at ourselves! Bill, I see your point, but this is a site for the masses, not just a few. Your point is well taken, and I believe things have been handled well up until now. Bill, I know you have personally contacted individuals about subject matter unbecoming of the website. Lets keep it that way. Keep having fun like we have been, and take yourselves lightly. That’s life! I don’t have to look back that far to see how this site affected peoples lives in a very positive way because they felt strong enough (And close enough) to people on this site to say what they felt. I would like to keep it that way. Vulgar or risque jokes will be nuked, and the perps notified by the web police.
Now, who is coming up with the next Putz Pic?

And who is coming up with Briank in a ”purple” [viking color] dress? Better yet him catching ”purple” catfish. Don’t get me wrong, fun is fun, and we need that and its great we have that here but what we do and how we say things sometimes can easily get carried away even by myself. I’m just trying to keep this site a respectable family fishing site but certainly not like another site I hear about that if you even breathe wrong your post or maybe even you are nuked. This is the only site I have ever heard of that a person can be a person and is accepted and cared about as another human being and that a person can feel close enough to people they have never met to share whats in their heart and even ask for urgent prayer for a sick or dying family member and get a warm and caring feeling from the responses from doing that. There are fishing sites out there that you get nuked for trying that. Or you read and agree to certain rules or you can’t belong or be here. Where else can you feel like theres a real family of caring people on a fishing site. We have something wonderfull and special here that you just don’t find elsewhere. I just want to see it stay that way.
    Thanks, Bill

As a parent I to have noticed a little to much of one certain four letter word lately. A joke bordering on risque is one thing and I can live with that but when I see that four letter word I just cringe—you know the one. GOLF–there I said it and I feel dirty now. Come on guys this is a family site.
