Now I have seen a ton of big walleye working on pool 4 for the last 6 years, but this one is one of the biggest I have seen and the biggest one this year for sure! A guy named Kelly got it near the dam today on a plastic in 12 fow. The location is his top secret! Great fish Kelly! It weighed 13.7 lbs on two different scales and was 31 1/2 inches long…and had a belly that wouldn’t quit!

As for the overall bite at the dam, things have improved dramatically since last week. That didn’t take much however. Last week was the poorest I’ve seen it here during that time frame. I think good…no great things are yet to come. I have my fingers crossed. With the high water, your main focus should be on shoreline current breaks/seams. There are many of em and they are obvious with the current out there. In general they are downstream of an inside bend in the river. Also, as Dustin mentioned in a recent post, think back to what the shoreline USE to look like before the high water and remember where those little shoreline jetty’s were. They will hold fish right now. There is not a secret bait to be using right now either. Minnows, Hairjigs and plastics are all catching some nice fish….just not a ton of em. The numbers are there for some, but not for most. BUT things have improved by the day since Sunday. The majority of the boats are still fishing from the resort up to the dam, but don’t be afraid to venture away from the crowds to find fish. With fish like this one, I know it’s got me excited about the next few weeks! That’s the latest report. Short and sweet, but to the point. Good fishing to all.

What a sow!! Doubt it’s a fake. Everytime there is a big walleye picture, someone always has to say it’s fake.

It just looks like they cropped the background as to prevent a flock of boats to that spot. I beleive that is what gives it the photoshopped look. I’m sure it is real.

You cannot question Steve’s integrity. If he saw that fish, he means what he says. Great fish Kelly!

He’s just holding it out with extended arms a little. And the camera man is a little close. Check the shadows in the background. Particularly the second dorsal. It matches exactly on the shadow plus the shadow isn’t black and you can see leaves and branches in the shadow. That’s a real deal Hog Mama! Congrats to the angler.

I can assure you the fish is real and that photo is unedited. It was the talk of the resort last night!

    Thanks,

    Mack,

You think he caught that fish in the parking lot?!?!?

You other guys and your doubts about the fish … you sound like the jealous muskie fishermen I see on other discussion boards!!!

I’d like to meet this fish’s sister tomorrow. Here piggy, piggy, piggy!!

I don’t doubt the authenticity of the guy catching the fish in the photo, but that picture has been to the chop shop, no question about it.
I’ll go along with the idea that the original picture probably gave away the location so they changed the background to protect the innocent.
Either way, that’s a huge piggie!

I am not doubting the resort owner at all. I know he does real well there. I just thought the photo looked cut up too but whatever you say I believe. As far as being jealous…Ya right. I could care less if I ever caught a walleye or sauger for the rest of my life.. But awesome fish, congrats, and nice job. Thats a dandy.

Wow. What a fish. That photo does look a little funny but I fully believe that fish is what was stated and caught where said. Glad to see they got that nice of photo of the fish. I sure hate it when you get your photo taken and say a nice 8# fish looks to be about 3#

Good job guys. That makes what 3 fish in that size range that have been posted on here in the last few weeks.
