High water means hazards on river!

Just a heads up to boaters on the river right now. The water is high and there are a fair amount of logs coming down. Two boats hit logs today that ended their trips short. One was a 135 opti that lost the entire bottom half of the motor! Not good. The guy said they hit it and it threw him into the windshield! All they saw was a little piece of wood that looked like a piece of “floating bark”. Hitting one of these things at the wrong time can result in tradegy! Just a heads up.

I was down there (P4) on 4/2. Lots of debris and the fishing was slow. Sure was nice to be out though. Saw many boats traveling too fast for conditions.

I saw a couple floaters on monday that would have yielded enough board feet for a nice deck or small addition to a home! On the surface all you could see was a tiny sliver of what lay beneath.

Great advice Steve. “Just on plane” is plenty fast during times of really high water.
