Croix Ice Free.

    Just an FYI, the Croix opened up very early today. A large mass of ice broke apart in the wind, and a ice jam was created at the train bridge. Everything is clear now. You can really see the demarkation line between the two rivers right now!
    Now all we have to do is wait for the opener!

    I think there’s still some ice north of Hudson’s RR bridge. Not sure how the Afton passage is looking either. I did notice a fair amount of debris out there so be careful guys! Those props aren’t cheap!

    Don’t wait for season opener………. chase crappies!

    And to think that a week ago today, I saw trucks parked on the ice right off the point from Clydes! It does change fast.

    You read my mind. I have only targeted smallies and eyes on the Croix and caught crappies at that time. I was thinking of fishing for the crappies around the calmer waters, boat docks and small bays where there is plenty of cover. Any other suggestions?

    The water at Taylors Falls has gone down about 1.5′ as of tonight Tuesday … Jeff
