I have the best luck using the Catalpa Orange paddletail. The blue with the white tail would be my second choice. When I use the paddletails, I find bottom, then lift about 6 inches and hold it steady for 5-10 seconds and repeat. I have the best luck with that technique and not jigging them.

Did great on ringworms yesterday. Pro-blue, firecracker took top big fish honors for the day. We put 4 fish over 7lbs in the boat, all of them except one came on ringworms. We took one 7.5lb fish on 5″ firecracker K-grub.

I did great the weekend before last with a purple ringworm with a white tail on a 1/4 oz. plain leadhead. Tried again for a couple hours this past Saturday with very little luck. Saw very few fish boated. We found a couple walleye downstream but they wanted nothing to do with my ringworm but instead inhaled my buddy’s sassy shad.

My last time out, the only fish that we got were on Electric Blue/ Pearl tail Paddletails.

We fished catalpa orange chartruese tail and oystershell on saturday. We fished rip-rap and slow retreived down the face. The strikes were as aggressive as smallmouth strikes. The biggest that day was 4.3lbs

Caught a lot of walleye and sauger using the catalpa orange last Wed – Sat. Caught most with it hovered 6″ above the bottom but did catch a few jigging it – easy to slip back into the lift drop occasionally – but they worked very well – I was impressed. Chuckles

The Catalpa Orange paddle tails have been working well for me on the Wisconsin River. Haven’t tried them on the Mississippi yet, but will be at Evert’s the 7th to the 10th, so will maybe have the opportunity to try them out up there.

I was dragging paddel tails and picked up quite a few fish. I will keep them in my box from now on.

How are you guys rigging yours? I rigged mine how it was suggested to me by Dave at B-Fish-N, paddle tail pointed up. Which way gives maximum action in the bait? I would agree with everyone else, Catalapa Orange/Chartreuse seems to be the hottest color.

    Be safe out there,

I rig mine upside down, with the triangle pointing down. Just personal preference, but I think you get a little more tail action that way.
