Hopefully my river experience around here helps next week. I’ll be fishing med sized rivers from boat in Michigan for steelhead with my bro. From what I hear we will be trying a variety of methods including trolling and slipping holes with cranks. Spawn may be an option if my brother gets a hen between now and then. He only uses fresh spawn. We may even hit a river mouth at the big lake. Basically we’re going where the fish are. Anyone have any up to date info on that fishery or tips? I’m taking some ringys to try. I heard plastics are working well out west and moving this way for steelies.

I went out to Michigan last year about this time fished the Pier Marquett(sp) for steel head….man what a blast. Those steelhead sure can fight, and when they hit you better have a good hold on the rod. I tried some spinners & cranks but really only caught fish on spawn bags rigged on a three-way set up. They said I was alittle early last year for the big run but I wasn’t disappointed. Let us know how you do.
