Seeing as a lot of you here are in Minnesota I thought you might find this MN/DNR web page interesting. It has air photos from 1938 and 1950, aprx.

    http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/maps/landview_dhtml.html

It will open with a map of the state to guide you in selecting areas of interest. Enlarge on the area you want then when your set go to the Layers:Forground and go down to the bottom of the menu box till you see Photo Center’s for 1938 and 1950. Hilite one of them and then go redraw map. You should get small red dots with the county borders if there are any photos of the area. The 1938-39 images are mostly of the western state with some coverage of the metro, and the 1950’s cover the “then” metro with a scattering of SE Minn. The whole state isn’t covered so its hit and miss, but its fun seeing what things looked like, way back when.

To give you a quick sample

Then next to the lower right corner of the image is

“To download a full resolution version click here. ”

This is a 2 mb file in case your using dial up internet.

Not only is this pre I-35, but check out 61 and North Shore Trail

Sorry Matt, I forgot to mention you have to click on the circle on the left side with the “i” in it first, then click on the red dot.

PS, would love to know how you guys are substituting the web address with a short text so I could get rid of the long sentence. Any one point me to an old thead on this?
