Yep, big big fan here He was a great musician who really knew how to put the rodeo life into words. I have been sitting here all afternoon listening to his tapes. I know I am going to miss him He was also a World Champion Bareback rider in the 80’s. There are a few of us on the site that are former bullriders and know his music well. I spent a lot of time going down the highway going to different rodeos all over the country listening to tapes of Chris. There will never be another guy that can make rodeo songs come to life like he did. I never expected to hear that he died at such a young age
I to enjoyed his music. Several years ago I was in a ceramic class. Our teacher was the president of his fan club. He went out to his ranch every summer and we heard a lot of stories. Always listened to his tapes during our class. Hey Am Watson wonder if you know my son in law. He just quit riding those bulls about 2 years ago. Sure glad he did. His name is Jerod Kelber and he went to a lot of rodeos in the Wisconsin Minnesota area.
Any of you familiar with Ashley Bushendorf? She is a friend of mine that is very very good with barrel racing and calf roping. She has made it into the newspaper many times, and winning many high school rodeos.
As you can tell by the screen name this guy is also a big fan, he is the best country singer out there in my ears. I use to work for a stock contractor in MN, I know all to well what we are talking about, the trips down the road on our way to a rodeo listening to Chris Ledoux, man I miss them days. Sad to know that he wont be with us anymore. Capitol Nashville President and CEO Mike Dungan. “In a world of egos and soundalikes, he was a unique artist and a wonderful man”. Ill second that one.
I’m not old enough to know a lot of his older songs that he made before he got the record deal with Capitol, but I am a big fan of his, and was shocked when I saw the news today. I wish I could have gone to one of his concerts, I’ve seen a tape of one and boy was he wild all over the stage. He will be missed by all who have heard his music. As Garth screams on the Double Live album “GOD BLESS CHRIS LEDOUX!”
Truly a sad day. There aren’t nearly enough good guys out there and we have just lost one. I guess we can be thankful that Garth brought him into the public’s eye and his last years must have been good ones for him. He was talented in so many ways but I don’t think he liked the big corperate side of music and the games they played.
I used to be a bullrider and loved to listen to his tunes. not only on the way to rodeos, but also just toolin around the cities in my truck for work.I have used his music in school and have even gotten him some air time to the alternative crowds. but his rock n roll style of country that could pick up any down person and make them want to party will be missed. I have seen him live everytime he came to the cities and loved every show. all of his shows where never the same, he did what he wanted and that was cool. I remember launching tins of copenhagen up on the stage when he sang that song, I remember adding a few scratches into my belt buckle with songs like under this ol hat, county fair, one ride in vegas and a few others. I just hope that all of us that are huge fans will keep his music alive and introduce others that don’t know him to it. keep his family in our prayers, and be rest assured, he is up in heaven getting ready to mark out another bronc.
thanks for all of the great memories Chris!!!

I’ll miss you to Chris! Wish I’d made more of your concerts.
BTW I think he was Bareback Champion in 1976 not the 80’s but I’d have to look it up to be sure. Either way he was a “Hell of a hand!”
I am a big fan of Chris Ledoux as well. His hard work, perseverance and family values have been an example to many. He had a very unique style that was exceptional and his shows, well they speak for themselves. I have been to country shows and rock shows and have never been to any more entertaining than what Chris Ledoux put on. His music made me feel like I was a part of the story being told. I particularly liked the songs about Wyoming and the western life. Many artists have songs about the rodeo life or the western life, but Chris Ledoux lived this life for real. He was a cowboy who entertained, and this could be heard and felt in his music.
He will truly be missed by many, but will live on in his music. God Bless Chris Ledoux and his family. I wish them the best in this time of sorrow.
Hey Shane,
How bout you bring the Ledoux tunes to the GTG this Summer and we’ll give the ole boy a salute.
Ken-You might be right on the year Bruce Ford pretty much dominated the 80’s For some reason ’85 came to mind, but now that I think of it, I think it was Bruce that won it then. But, like you said, he was ” a hell of a hand”
Ken-You are correct, it was 1976 . Bruce Ford was in 79,80,82,83, and 1987.
Remove you’re hats this week; we definitely lost one of the Good Guys.
Remembering the LeDoux family in our prayers. He had 5 children (ages 19 – 29).
I’ll bet if you looked in my truck you’d find 30+ Chris LeDoux CD’s. I was fortunate enough to meet Chris 25 years ago out in Bozeman (we had some mutual friends). He was a great man, songwriter, singer, entertainer, and of course bronk rider. Very sad news.
PTC were you at MSU?
I was there fall of ’81 through spring of ’86.

CMT ran a great tribute show to him on Friday and is supposed to continue through the weekend. It was a great show that chronicled his life from a small boy to the time of his death. Don Gay had alot of great things to say about how he lived his life, both in and out of the rodeo arena. It was kind of neat to see how his music first started and how the whole family came together to produce his music.
