It’s probably a sealed light. You can’t change the bulb. You need to change the entire fixture.

You need to remove the enter light fixture and re-wire in a new one. You have a sealed system, probably “Wesbar” lights. You can get the replacements at 61 marine.

The light should have 2 posts with screw out bolts and 2 or 3 wires.

Nope, no bolts. It’s just got like a rubber “boot” around the lens. No nut’s or bolts. It’s not even the brake or tail light,it’s the blinker.

Here ya go. I just went through the same thing. I called Eagle and told me that you have to pry the rubber gommet out from around the lens. So, I started doing that…wow that sucker is in there tight. I must have worked for an hour to get the rubber worked out from around the light, but it does come out. The rubber grommet around the lens is what holds that light in there. The light just unplugs from the harness and you replace the whole light, lens, the works. The light cost me around 6 bucks, and an hour and half worth of work..but I now have all my lights back…..thats a good thing….

PS You have to work a screwdriver in around the rubber grommet very deep to pry that thing out, because there is a lip on the inside that holds it in there….By the way there is only one lightbulb in the lens, if the turn light is out, so is the brake light…

Jon, They are not Wesbar lights, they are another brand, can’t remember. They have a plugin connector on the back with 3 posts and 3 holes…..Do not get them at a Marine dealer, they will cost you 3 times the amount that you can buy them for at Northern, or CarQuest or Checker, and all other auto parts stores….They are pretty cheap, but I am thinking of replacing mine with LED lights. They cost about $30. each, but never burn out.

Thanks TBO! Does the grommet come out as well or does that stay in the trailer? I have brake light,Are you saying that there is’nt a dual element bulb? I realize what your saying, I’ll need the whole thing anyways.

    Thanks TBO,

Yes, next time I need to replace my lights I’m getting the LED’s. I tend to smash them before they burn out however….

Yes it is a double element bulb….the old 1157 GE bulb that we grew up with, when you could change only the bulb..lol

Yes, the grommet comes out with the light lens. After I got mine out I figured out the easiest way to take that thing out is to break it out. The old lens and light is no good anyway, and if you just smash the whole lens and light assembly, the grommet just lifts out and you put the new light lens in the grommet, and work the light/grommet back into the trailer frame.

If I were there I could show you, but the only thing I can do from here is wish you luck….I think after doing it, I would just smash out the old light, like I said.

    Good Luck

I also have an Eagle trailer and have replaced all the standard lights with led’s. Led’s use 1/10th the amps that standard lights use and have 100,000 hour life rating. Most manufacturers offer a 10 year warranty but some less expensive led’s do not. True, they should last forever especially on a boat trailer application.

The lights mounted in the grommets are industry standard sizes. The round Stop/tail/turn (back of trailers)are 4″ diameter, the oval stop/tail/turn (also on back of trailers)are 6 inch and the side markers are usually 1×2 or 1×3 and mount either in a plasctic base or rubber grommet. The side marker lights mounted in the plastic base are more difficult to remove. To to so, use a small flat edge screw driver to pry the plastic tab away from the light and then lift the light out. I had a Shorelander with these bases and broke a couple while trying to remove the light. You can also buy that base – many Marine dealers charge more than mass retailers or auto stores. Once you get them out, leave the gromment in place on the trailer and simply insert the new light into the grommet. It may help to moisten the inside edge of the grommet to help slide the light in.

Word of caution, some of the lights on the market use different connectors than what is on your trailer. It will cost a few more bucks for the jumper. So make sure you ask for the standard 3 pin or 2 pin lights.

Through local distributors I sell a brand of LED’s that work and look great. If interested Send me a PM and I’ll let you know part numbers and where you can get them at very good prices. You shouldn’t spend $30 on a LED tail light and LED side markers should cost no more than $7

Chappy, Why didn’t you just come over the 4 blocks and ask me! I bought my replacement at Bumper to Bumper for around $10. Also, as TBO says, Bust that sucker out of there. Also, if you get a new rubber grommet with the new light, throw that thing away as well. The one that came with mine was so tight, that I couldn’t get the thing around the light and into the frame. The old one was stretched out, just enough, to get the whole unit back in.
Also, if I had your money, I would go for the LED also. I don’t know what made yours blow, but water got into mine and the same thing will probably happen again. With the LED’s, it doesn’t matter, cause they give off little, if no heat.
