Has anyone had a chance to see the new Ranger 1850 Reata? I just got finished working the St. Cloud boat show and this was really the first time I got to go through the new boat from Ranger. Needless to say I was very impressed or I would not be writing this.

The 1850 is a true Fish & Ski boat. It is built on a deeper V hull to handle rougher water and comes with built in Ski & Rod storage. It also include a fold up front casting deck and rear jump seats that fold up or down when not in use. The boat is also set up to accept a kicker motor for those who are serious about their fishing. The swim ladder on the back is set up so it can be moved to either side depending on which side you like your kicker.

I was really impressed with the thought that went into the design of this boat. This is by far the best Fish & Ski I have ever seen. Here is a picture of the boat from the Ranger Web Site.

Cool. Ma has been hounding me to get a ski boat for years. This could actually make us both happy. Ah, who am I kidding, I don’t care if she is happy. I’m sure this would be a great boat for a lot of families though!!

Hello everyone! I have an 1850 on order and I am very excited. I had a couple of baby boys the last few years, so I kind of gave up the fishing for a while. I was able to convince my lovely bride that young boys should ride arround in a new Ranger. This site is on my favorites, so I hope to see some of you arround.
I can’t wait until opener on Mille Lacs. Atleast it doesn’t sound like I missed much up there the last few years.

EJ congratulation on your purchase. You are going to love that boat. Did you order through Crystal Pierz Marine in Crystal?

The hull on the 1850 Reata is modeled after the walleye boats. You should have no trouble cruising around Mille Lacs this year. Keep us posted on how it goes for you.

Glad to see Ranger can finally keep up with Crestliner design I have an ’89 Phantom that has the features you mentioned…have thought about trading many times but the dang thing is just so versatile. I’m sure this is a lot more plush and “up to date” but my ol’ C-Liner still does the job for me and my family.

I have a 1998 Ranger Reata. It’s a great boat for my family since we like to fish and do that family boating thing. Enough storage, and enough room to let the kids swim and not worry about getting the adults wet. It sounds like they have made some improvements to the decks, but I wouldn’t trade my setup for anything. Good luck with your Ranger! You’re going to love it!

There was one at the walleye expo a couple of weeks ago in Blaine. Looked to me like a well thought out boat also. That fold down bench seat in the back could hold three kids or be folded down to make a great casting deck. Looks like they truely made this boat for the avid fisherman who needs to take the family out every now and again. I know in the line up of boats I have been looking at this is the one my wife would most likely choose.

Scott, I ordered through CP in Shakopee.
rvvrrat, I also had a 1988 Crestliner Phantom. I loved the set up, but Ranger finally decided to set a boat up like our midwestern Crestliners, Lunds and Alumacrafts and I bit.

I looked at this boat at the Mpls Boat Show. Very well set up. However, it was easily $4,000 more than a comparable 18 foot Sportfish or Fisherman (all with the 150 Yammy 4S).

EJ, I can understand why you took the bait. It looks like one sweet rig. Let us know how you like it.

Yup, love the boat, it would have to be and exceptional deal on a different baot to get me to buy different model. IMO this is the perfect boat for me, as much as I could live with never having a ski boat, it’s really nice for family and friends.

This boat is indeed perfect. Doubtful I’ll have one soon pretty spendy, but worth every penny I’m sure.

1800 Fisherman, they are comparable in size and the layout could be considered similar but that is where it ends. I had a 1800 Fisherman with a 150 Yamaha on it before I switched to Ranger. There really isn’t a comparison between the boats. The ride in the Ranger was a lot better than in any of the previous Lunds I have owned. Being this Reata is built on the Walleye hull I would anticipate the ride to be very good as well.

I know one of the Ranger Pro’s I worked with this weekend spent 4 day in Arkansas last year running this boat and was Very impressed with the ride.

I drove this boat last October with an 150 carb engine on it and was impressed. I was working a demo day for Ranger and spent the morning taking out families of 4 and lettling them play with the features on the boat. This boat pops up on plane amazingly quick and was able to stay on plan at the 15-17 mph range. Couple that with excellent interior layout, tons of storage, actual rod storage in the floor that you can put rods in and not have to worry about them. This boat performs more than adequately with a 150 4-stroke on it.

My brother-in-law was shopping the fisherman / sportfish and found the Ranger to have superior features, finish, options and family approval. I delivered his new boat to him in early Feb and he couldn’t be happier! He powered his boat with a reliable Yamaha 150 4-stroke.

I challenge others who are in the market for a fish and ski to add up all the standard options that Ranger offers and compare to the competition.

Ranger had definitely done their homework and built a boat that meets what customers are looking for!

Hey Scott, you will have to introduce yourself to David Fluette @ Crystal Pierz. He did not know who you after I told him you were promoting this boat.

David took 25 pictures of a boat on the floor and emailed it to me. The Ranger website does not do this boat justice. This looks like a sweet rig.

If anyone would like to see the pictures send me a PM and I will forward the pictures to you. I could also send them to someone to post here if possible.

Dave is the shorter guy with a Harley. I actually go through the St. Cloud store but I know most of the Crystal Sales people after working shows for them the last 4 years.
