    Hey guy’s GREAT news. I was in Lake City today and saw the big Ice breaker coming thru. Busting up the ice big time. If your down river BE CAREFUL big chunks floating down river. Get the boats ready, it will be open before the weekend. Good luck out there, but again be careful alot of ice chunks going down river.

    Thats good news. Was kind of surprised because the readings from the 23 of Feb. shows 15-20 inches of blue ice through most of Pepin. Any body have any idea of how much ice they can break through?

    The one here on the Mississippi can break up to 4′ if they have to I believe. I know some can break up to 8′ of ice out on the oceans and Great Lakes.

    I am not sure what they do? Do they just make one pass and that is it or what? I haven’t seen that before, do you have any more pictures that looked cool. and one more question, what is the red thing at the bottom of the picture.

    I was gonna say i just got in from lakepepin ice fishing and there was still a good 12″ of ice in the current..so as far as a ice breaker comin up ..
