Do you remember when Saylorville and the Des Moines River used to give up these hogs? It has been awhile for me (pre 1993 flood) but the memories are still there. I caught this one on February 13, 1993 while fishing for walleyes in the Des Moines River. Caught another about the same size on that day. Used to go up on Saylorville and caught many 8-10 lbs by following the seagulls feeding on shad. What a great memory.

Zammer, it’s a nice fish…and a great mount…but what kind of catfish is it?

Kidding of course…but what kind of fish is it?

It is a wiper. A cross between a striper and a white bass. Like a smallmouth on steroids.

I’ve heard of them but never seen one. Looks like a strong fish!
