Fish when it is over 32 degrees!

No really, I use to use a silicone spray that worked pretty good. I haven’t for a while, and wouldn’t know where to get it outside of a hardware store. Do NOT use anything oil based.

From my understanding the ‘high-tech’ lines tend to cause that problem where monos do not. That has been my experience with Fireline as well. I’m hope we will hear more from guys more experienced then us.

    Red Rock Eyes,

I agree with Tuckner on this as well. Mono will still ice up, however not nearly as bad as the braids for this time of year. Braid has its time and place, but the woven strands tends to provide more water to collect on the line. After awhile, it feels like you are trying to cast rope through the guides. From my experience, mono has not been as bad but clearly still evident.

End result! Wait until she warms up a bit! JK

After being in the boat it seems likely that I will NOT be treking back out to the Ice Shack to fish.Just to hard to get out off the boat once you have been in it already.I will try some mono and see how that goes otherwise it seems I may just have to battle the frozen line and cold fingers until this winter type weather passes which will be none to soon for me.See ya on the water.I will be at the dam or near there Sunday after 3 pm and next Wednesday morning 6:45 so if you see a rookie in a white Stratos 285 stop by and say hi.By the way Steve at Everts is awesome.Very nice and is willing to give out some handy info to us newbies. Thanks Steve.I will try to be quite on Wednesday so I dont wake you off the couch again
