This year I’m using formerly tobaco stained fingers.
I quit smoking 4 months ago.
So I’m wondering if that will change the chemistry of the oil in my hands.
I’m sure that eliminating that smell will improve bowhunting.

I also quit cafine about a month ago.
So I dought if anyone will be able to fish any slower than me.

Superline is tough to beat for vertical jigging and when using smaller jigs. The small diameter allows the jig to get down with less resistance. Its also great for longlining and pulling 3 ways. Fireline,IMHO, does not have the fishability of StrenBraid, PowerPro, or SpiderWire. It starts getting fuzzy and unraveling after a while. Perhaps the “new” version is better in this dept.

I am going to spend more time using Power Pro fishing line. I have heard alot of good things about it and want to check it out more.

Besides chasing walleyes on the Mississipi River I plan on spending more time chasings crappies too. Its a great fun way to get my fishing fixes between weekends.

Also plan on doing more shore fishing. Another great way to fish between weekends.

To sum it up: More time fishin = more FUN!

    Thanks, Bill

Congrats on kicking those bad ”expensive” old habits. You can’t imagine how much fishing stuff including boats you can buy with that money.
    Thanks, Bill

I am afraid to say it, but I might try fishing for bass more this year. The two lakes I fish the most are infested with these little critters. Walleyes are so much harder to catch and they don’t fight as hard.

I have used Fireline for several years and love it. Last summer I spooled up my surf rod with Power Pro in NJ because Fireline was unavaible at the 3 tackle shops where I looked. I hated Power Pro from the moment I started using it. It reminds me ALOT of the original Spiderwire which acts alot like limp thread and is prone to wind knots. Fireline has something done to it that imparts a certian amount of stiffness which minimizes wind knots and makes knots easier to tie.

In the first dozen casts in the surf a small windknot developed in the power pro which went undetected. While casting my 10″ rod with 4oz of lead, the knot caught and parted the line which made a sound like a .22 Frustrating, but no big deal. I cut the windknot out and put on my partner’s favorite wooden plug. About half a dozen casts later, bang! The plug went sailing from another windknot and was lost for ever. I walked straight off the beach and had regular old mono spooled back on (and bought my partner 3 new plugs).

Perhaps everyone’s elses experience is different, but if you are going with Power Pro you might one to try just one reel to see if you really like it….

Sounds like the wrong line for how you where fishing. I spooled up 2 reels with power pro last year for long lineling and could not have been happyer. Low diameter, strength, low streach. Just what I wanted for the trolling I was doing.
Dont write this stuff off just yet. Might just need to vary what you are using it for.

Not much for new plans for this year. Just plan on spending anouther summer of trolling eyes on pool 2.

I plan on fishing a few walleye tournies. I also plan on fishing more plastics for eyes as well. And the biggest new thing I am going to do this year is catch a 10# eye

    It sounds good
I take you bass fishing a couple times and you are ready to go to the dark side.
Rumor has it that I might see you at the resort this year or am I just wishing.

well I have a few things that I want to do this year. i am going to hopefully be trying a new boat this summer.

but, I want to get better at fishing both walleye and bass. I also want to go and fish in another state this year, I was thinking Iowa with slopbass. but mostly just get to learn another lake this summer.

I hope to trolll more crankbaits for walleyes this season. I’m sure there’s been a discussion about this already.

Well my list is plenty long, so I’ll go with the top of my list:

Hire DeZee for pool 2 wingdamn trip and James/Dustin for a pool 4 trip. I’ve wanted to do this for a while now, to learn more and gain more presentations to the arsenal.

Learn how to troll 3 ways and deep diving cranks. I seem to catch everything but fish when I try this.

Put more time in on wingdams, try to learn which dams will produce, how to fish them and when, and not to hit them with the boat.

Go cat fishing with Brian K. I’ve only gone a couple of times with some of the clowns I normally fish with, never really catch anything besides a buzz!
