I have been going through the programs downloaded on my computer and getting rid of the ones that we do not use. One I am trying to get rid of is gamespy
Here are the steps I am taking to uninstall.
    1.Go to Add Remove Programs
2.Scroll down list of programs to Gamespy 3D
    3.Click on Change/Remove
When I click on Change/Remove a box pops up and the only option is to install?????? How do I get rid of this crap?

I suppose reloading the OS might be your last resort.

When you go to run that install is there any place that gives you the option to uninstall? If it is there is it greyed out? Some installers will not change their apperance when uninstalling. I would say first go into your program files and see if there is a gamespy folder there. If there is not then it is not installed and you may need to reinstall it to get rid everything completely. There are settings that get changed in the windows registry that will not be removed if the program was not installed/unistalled correctly. I know this is a pain in the butt. Gamespy is usually not such a problem to uninstall.

    Taken from the gamespy FAQ:

    How do I uninstall GameSpy?
You can either run the uninstall.exe in the GameSpy folder or use the Control Panel | Add/Remove programs icon. We do not delete data files created by GameSpy so you can safely uninstall/reinstall without loosing your data. To totally eradicate GameSpy you need to delete the GameSpy folder *after* uninstalling. Note: Just deleting the GameSpy folder will leave parts of GameSpy on your computer.

To get rid of the add/remove entry run TweakUI if you have it and go to the add remove tab.

Sometimes an uninstall fails and the only way is to reinstall and then uninstall. I do not think that Gamespy is spyware like it may sound.

Nope it’s not spyware…it is a program that people use to meet and play computer/xbox games online.
