Ever been on a ”Wanted” list? I’m not talking about a ”bad guy wanted list.” I’m talking about a list where people can post and share about fishing. A list where you can start your own threads about different fishing topics such as different fishing techniques for catching different species of fish, talking about different rods, actions of rods, different reels, lures, baits, bodies of water, favorite ways to fish for each species, favorite species, what you have learned about or want to learn about different stlyes of boats, motors, different boat layouts, hulls, fishing clubs, seminars, electronics. The lists goes on and on and on. YOU are ALL on that list my friends. Lets talk fishing. Lets ALL start threads about fishing. Lets all post and post and share what we know and what we want to learn. We are ALL suffering badly from cabin fever and ALL need a fishing fix badly. What can we do to help that problem. We can fish right here on the fishing site by talking about fishing. We ALL belong and are All fishing friends right here. So lets ALL do what we love to do best, next to fishing that is, lets talk fishing!
    Thanks, Bill

ok, I would like to learn to better fish for walleyes in different lakes and rivers. I would also like to better learn to trust my instincts in use of plastics for catching bass. to be able to learn when to cast and when to pitch and flip. I wan to know what colors to use on cloudy or on sunny days, what to do with clear or dirty water, but most of all, have someone take the time to take me out and show me. also I would like to learn how to buy better equipment and what equipment to use for them different situations.

    thanks

You wanna talk fishing Bill? Well I can talk fishing.
I once caught a fish so big that when I pulled it out of the river the water went down two feet. This fish was so big that when I had a picture taken of it the picture weighed twelve pounds.
    How’s that for fish stories???

Well Bill, I think the fishing gods are lining up to tell me that I need some time away from water. Got up this morning wanting to join 100 of my closest friends floating from Everts up river to the dam. Well, my outboard’s got a water problem ( Brooktrout’s water flow issue so I decided to hit a 200 acre lake nearby for a little T-shird clad ice fishing. Well, we iced about a half-dozen bass (biggest was 17″) fishing shiners under tip-ups. However, drilling what turned out to be the last hole of the day, the throttle linkage on the power auger snaps.

So, what do you do when the motor won’t run and the auger won’t cut? Work on the “honey do” list, I guess. Maybe by next weekend I’ll have one of these two problems fixed so I can once again FISH!

Hey, I second your idea Bill. I am up for any talk of fishing. Topics? Well….ummmmm…..I’d like to learn all there is to fishing the Mississippi River. Also, taking kids fishing is another good topic. My classroom of kids really love when I bring in new photos of my fishing/fish caught. They always want to go too and are always asking questions. One mom even said to me that she had a dream of her daughter fishing with Ms. Cheri. I also like reading the posts about different ways to fish in hopes of learning something – “stepping out of the box” so to speak because I really am a live bait person – course you couldn’t tell that be the tackle box I carry – biggest one they make on the market and I have to sit on it just to close it (like you see in movies where they sit on the suitcase to close it).

Ok lenny. Got any ‘true” fishing wisdom to share for fishing the river and what your favorite technique is and why?
    Thanks, Bill

Brooktrout, look at it this way. Its best to have these things happen now than later when the fishin hot. So nows a good time to call the dealer and see what the problem is so you can get it fixed before the real hot fishin starts. I know, we all hate boat and motor problems, they stink, but looking at it this way helps to make us feel better about happening now.

Sheri, we all have alot to learn and will never stop learning. Thats good for us too as it keeps us sharper. How about sharing your favorite techniques for catching fish.
    Thanks, Bill

Yes Herb I sure do need to go fishing. Was planning on it this morning then woke up to nasty winds and didn’t want a beating as I want to use the jon boat so spent some time here on the site instead. Talked to my son Nate who was fishing today and he said they ended up having to us the kicker motor to jig with as it was so windy.
    Thanks, Bill

Well, i have to honestly say I have no real techniques. All the fishing I do now is all stuff I learned by trial and error. I will use nothing but blood hooks now, all my fishing line is super line (I am a fan of Power Pro, Spider Wire, and Fireline). I am a live bait person because I know that this is what has caught me fish in the past. I know what poles and reels to buy and not to buy and that each pole has it’s purpose. I can tell you what times of the day are good for fishing crappies and bass and the times of the year to fish for certain species of fish, but I am surely not one to ask about techniques – like I said it’s all from trial and error or little tid bits of info I have read or seen or have been told.

Muskygirl, I too like to fish with live bait for certain speicies. I have 4 tackle boxes with everything for anything . Besides all my ice fishing gear. And then sometimes that doesn’t help to catch a fish.

    Get real fishing machine.
You could put a bare hook in the water and have fish slapping the h%ll out of each other to be the first one caught by you.

Muskygirl, I think you were talking about making the GtG this year. If so, you HAVE to make it the Friday before. I believe that’s when we’ll be having the Anger’s as Role Model event at Everet’s. Without a doubt…one of the best volunteer organizations out there!

    BACK to fishing.

I love to troll raps with the electic trolling moter…if this style would ALWAYS catch fish..I wouldn’t have anything but crankbaits. It’s quiet, moving slowly to see your suroundings. (little side note here) Remember when you were a kid walking or riding your bike somewhere? You knew every crack in the sidewalk, some bigger, some smaller. Even where one of the meaner boys in the neighberhood wrote his initals in the cement before it was dry? The tree that had the rotted out hole in it? You knew every little cosmetic blemish of the sidewalks or roads personally. Then came the car. All you know now is the curve coming up and the stop signs.

That’s another thing I like about trolling. At 1.5 miles an hour along the shore line, you see all sorts of wildlife….until that tug on the rod brings your focus back to fishing. And that is the best way to come back!

PS Fishing Machine…just make sure you stay at least on up on Herb…otherwise he’ll get a big head!
