I BELIEVE THE LAKE THE YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT IS ISLAND LAKE RESEVOIR JUST OUTSIDE OF DULUTH ABOUT 10 MILES. IF SO….SHHHHHHHH KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT ABOUT THIS LAKE…. I AM JUST BS’IN…THIS LAKE HAS BEEN STOCKED FOR A LONG TIME. 1960’S I THINK WAS THE 1ST MUSKIE STOCKING. SO WITH THAT BEING SAID, YES THERE ARE SOME VERY LARGE FISH IN THAT LAKE. IT IS 8,000 ACRES OR BETTER AND THAT IS A LOT OF WATER TO COVER, CONSIDERING THE CHANGING WATER LEVELS EVERY YEAR. I HAVE FISHED THIS LAKE A FEW TIMES AND HAD MIXED RESULTS. WITH THE WATER LEVEL CHANGING, IT IS DIFFERENT EVERY YEAR I GO UP, STURCTURE AND WEEED GROWTH CHANGES A LOT……. THE FISH ARE THERE, IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME AND WHERE THEY ARE ON ANY GIVEN YEAR. I HAVE NOT BOATED ANYTHING OVER 44IN IN THIS LAKE, HOWEVER I HAVE HAD A FEW FOLLOWS/BLOW UPS AT THE SIDE OF THE BOAT THAT WERE IN THE 48″-50″ CLASS. I ALSO FISH THE ST LOUIS RIVER ABOUT 10-20 TIMES EVERY YEAR, MAKEING A STOP AT ISLAND IS USUALLY A MUST, GIVEN THE TIME, THIS LAKE WILL PRODUCE SOME BIG GALS..
