If ya live in Wisconsin, Ya gotta love the snow.
SE Wisc got hit pretty good this weekend. 14″ plus lots of lake affect snow. 30 MPH winds made it tough to keep up with an ATV plow.

It looked a lot like that for me….only I was behind a shovel not on an ATV. I think it would have been a lot more fun the way you did it! If it’s gonna be cold, might as well be snow…just my 2 cents!

Like I told my wife when I bought it, It’s not a toy, it’s a work machine

It has been my intention for awhile to get an ATV next year. That said, what make, size, etc is that. I might just have to copy your lead on this!!

I would love to have one to plow my driveway as well, but I am afraid it will be a while before I can get one. I might be wrong but it looks like a Honda to me.

We didn’t get that much around the Twin Cities area but my nephew rode over on his little Honda Recon and begged to let him do our driveway too!

Using a winch, a plow, and 100lb. weight on the axle, he pushed an impressive amount of snow without ever putting chains on. The Recon is a 229cc, 2 wheel drive model.

My recommendation for ATV’s……… is really Yamaha. I own a Honda, Yamaha, and a Polaris. By what I’ve seen, Yamaha’s get the nod. For an all around, do almost anything utility machine, the 450 Kodiak is a tough package to beat. Don’t let anyone fool ya……… you don’t need a bigger motor than that. If you think you do, buy a jeep. But feature for feature, value for value…… that 450 Kodiak with on/off 4×4 would likely be my choice.

The one in the picture is my new 05′ Polaris 500 HO. It is a total work horse. I have a 5′ plow on it, and it don’t miss a beat. I had a 94′ polaris 300 4×4 which i bought new in 94′. I sold it last year, and really missed not having an ATV. The Polaris is my favorite, but there are a lot of good ones out there.

My bro-in-law has an ’02 Polaris Sportsman 500 4×4 and that thing might as well be a Sherman tank!!! You’re right….. there’s almost no stopping them and they’ll work, work, work! I just get intimidated by the size and power because I’ve been an off-road enthusiast for about 22 years now and I’ve seen a lot of things “just happen”. There is such a thing as too much power and too much weight……. but they are cool machines and awesome to watch!

Whatever you do, don’t get that 500 stuck in a bog swamp! We’ve already covered that (mis)adventure for you and yeah,…… we were able to laugh when it was over but there was a LOOOOONG spell of wondering if we’d ever get her out of there. The only trees to winch from simply uprooted! Uh-Oh! Pulling with another machine sank the puller! You can’t dig out of a bog swamp…….. so, trust me on this one…… don’t bury it in a bog swamp! lol!

We eventually got it out by using other atv’s and man power to get the right side tipped up and THEN using a puller to reposition just enough that the wheels stayed up on the bog. Then repeated the process for the other side. MESSY!

They’re wonderful with snow removal, wood cutting/dragging, hunting, yard trucking (trailor towing), and similar things. But hill climbing and creek bottom excursions……. things can actually get worse having a bigger machine…. and they’re up to 800cc’s and built like a Hummer now! Pretty soon, no one is going to need a tractor for anything………lol! Just add PTO!
