Come on now, you can’t just ask for a good taxidermist without telling what you are mounting. We want to hear the stories and see the pictures. If it is going on the wall I know there is a good story behind it. Don’t be holding out on us now.

Well the story goes something like this!
Last Summer my family and I we’re up north at our cabin fishing for crappies, when I decided to throw on a plastic worm. Sure enough I pulled in a nice 18 in. Large mouth. My 6 yr old boy was amazed, but started to cry when I told him I was putting him back so he could catch in one day.

It took him a while to calm down, but eventually he did and we headed back to the cabin.

The next day he wanted to go back to the crappie hole to see if he could catch that bass. We had no luck and it was almost time to go , but the boy wasnt going to let us leave until he got “one” more fish. Finally I told him, just jokingly, that if he caught that bass I would get it mounted. Sure enough a few tosses later he hit one on his like orange Zebco. He landing a nice 20 1/2 hawg. I was amazed, and stunned.
Needless to say, I have to live up to my word.
It obviously was more exciting being there, but we all know how it feels to see a kid hook a big one.

    Fish-On,

My brother Scott has been a taxidermist for quite some time now. HE does excellent work and the price is very hard to beat. Give him a buzz at 320-746-2124.

Excellent story! Congrats to your son!

Great story (and fish!). I have a crappie mounted that my son caught when he was 6. He was so pumped to catch it and so eager to have it mounted that I couldn’t refuse.

I know what you mean about keeping fond memories, I still have my boys first bucks forkhorn rack that he hit at 80 yrds with his 870 on a run, plus the casing from the slug hanging on the garage wall. Makes for nice memories.

Speaking of taxidermy, here is another direction you might want to go. It’s very affordable and has a quick turnaround. The photo of your son holding his first trophy tells it all. Life Size Trophy Prints…Check out http://www.customfish.com
