Im glad we sent 350 million to these areas. Thats better than a lot of other things the governemnt could do with it. I agree, I get awful sick of being Salvation Army to the world. But Iraq/Afghanistan is such a sinkhole of money that is just wasted that this is much better spent. 5 years after we leave, Iraq/Afghanistan will be right back where they are now. But, we might never leave.

Sinkhole? Sinkhole? Okay, I’m confused. We’re sinking in freeing opressed people and educating and feeding their children………… I feel the quicksand in this sinkhole closing about my neck right now

While I respect your opinion Fish On, I think you’re a bit out of touch on this one.

The things that you and I take for granted every day were taken away from the people who were hit by the tsunami. Families, homes, whole towns were wiped off the face of the earth in a matter of minutes.

What does an overpaid, wasteful school district in the richest country on the planet have to do with 150,000 people who were hit by the worst natural disaster that any of us has ever witnessed have to do with one another?

Sorry for the ranting. I get tired of people whose priorities are a little skewed. Even the poor people in this country have it a heck of a lot better than anyone over there.

On another side of this whole picture……….Is the hatred the Indo “community” has for the US. They praised UBL in the streets for the WTC attacks. The country hates us………

Then we hear we are “stingy”………..

Things that make you go: “HUH????”

That comment is to DaveB for his remark about education being overfunded, not to the last post.

Which ever post it was in reply to it was uncalled for.

Good job Steve. We can disagree, but let’s not get petty, and resort to this sort of thing. If you have an opinion on a post, share it. I don’t care if you differ from me, but explain your position. That’s why this site is as awesome as it is. Because we don’t do things like this.

    My two cents worth…..
I watch the news and it is heartwrenching to see not only the loss of property but of human lives. Imagine for a moment – all your friends and family gone, no food, no water, no shelter…no hope! How can these countries ever be gotten back to a normal state? I pray for these people everyday no matter what religion, race, creed, color, political affliation…it does not matter to me, they are humans whom are suffering and are in dire need of assistance!

I hear what your saying Gary.

Indonesia is the biggest Muslim country in the world.

Where are the Arab countries with their oil money?

This irritates me to no end.

Where is our buddy Osamma? Isn’t he a wealthy man fighting for his Muslim brothers?

I guess his money is only used for killing the non-believer infidel blue eyed devil.

I like what your saying. Somehow that money we gave could be ending up in the hands of bin laden. Would we expect the return of money if a tsunami hit the US?

If you give to a well known charity like the
The American Red Cross your donation will get to where it needs to be. You can also tell them where you want your dollars to go.

    Thanks Steve.

Mille Lacs, somewhere on the sounth side! Out of six of the guys up there, the one guy caught 14 walleyes on just plain hook and shiner, the others not much with jigheads and minnows.

After further review and some words from my buddies, yes, I guess it does look like I took the easy way out. So if anyone wants to continue this discussion, I will be more then welcome to respond.

You know if we would just get the outcry from the world against terrorism like we have to help the tsunami victims maybe the world could defeat terrorism instead of us almost going it alone. I don’t know why the world isn’t screaming at the top of it’s lungs against terrorists. Maybe taking care of the tsunami victims will open a door to peace.

These post kinda tell me,what John Kerry was talking about two Americas, half the post only see people that need our help and support the other half are worried about who loves us,who will support us,or nobody ever thanks us.

The amazing thing is the politics brought into this discusion.

It is the goverments of the world createing war not families or children.

Right now 160,000.00 dead the # is expected to double if they don’t get the aid they need.

How many of the dead where your enemies, how many of the living deserve to die?

The U.S. always help countrys in need, when the time comes and the U.S. does not offer to help,it will be a marked time in history.
