Its been a couple of months since I posted any of my new stuff here… I spose thats true for a couple of reasons… the main one is that after the beauty of fall we have been in kind of a brown doldrums around here… and also.. Im still learning how to take effective snow landscape shots… its a skill that needs some work in my case… so mostly Ive just been getting shots of wildlife… I got a number of exciting eagle shots yesterday… and Ive only processed one so far… but I thought it was pretty spectacular, so I wanted to share it….. hopefully you guys enjoy these shots as much as I enjoy taking them!….

I feed the birds around my house.. helps me get some good photo ops… but sometimes the birds I feed are the ones I THINK Im feeding….. this Sharpshinned hawk showed up for breakfast.. and the other birds left!

The other day while fishing Fireside Lake, two Eagles were circling our fish on the ice. With your pictures skills, it would have made a good shot.

you guys are all too kind… I shot that Eagle coming and going.. and sitting on the ice… you have the landing.. heres the takeoff.. they are such noble looking birds… and I feel fortunate to be able to capture these images… my wildlife experience is starting to pay off and Im ready to cash in on great photo ops like this one….. a year ago Im sure I would have blown the shot somehow.. but this time despite a camera so cold I couldnt change settings I managed to get it done…. I wish I could share these full size.. theres lots of detail you cant really see here!…..

and I have entered them in contests.. and I expect them to do pretty well…. Im getting better all the time… maybe someday I will be able to truthfully say Im good!….

Well. I for one think you are good. In all my times trying to take pictures of the eagles on all my trips to the river, I only get specks in the sky. I scrapbook all my trips to the river and once would like to have a pic as close up as you do.

Dont be hard on yourself carpgirl!… I have the equipment I need to take these shots… if your trying to take it without excellent telephoto lenses and slr cameras with fast ISO’s and high speed autofocus and fast frame rates (mine is 5 frames per second)… then you really have to get lucky! on top of that Ive been shooting nature photography extensively for over a year… under international competition so Ive learned a trick or two… but Ive also learned how really GOOD the GOOD people are… its kind of like fishing.. about the time you think your good you enter the pro arena and see just what “good” really is!
but I dont take your comments and compliments lightly! I appreciate them all very much.. they mean as much or more to me as the critique of any judges… because you are my peers….. my roots are here… and when I shoot my style reflects that….. thank you all again for your comments and support….. Ill try to live up to your expectations….

Gee, I’d say you have the equipment to take good pics. I have been using a digital camera that has a fairly good zoom, but not enough for the kind of picks you take. All I ask for is just once, a eagle to get close enough to take one half way decent pic. It seemed that any time one did get close enough, the camera was not ready or it was full. I have all this neat stuff to do a eagle page in my scrapbook – just not a good pic. Do you have certain spots you go to to take these pics or are these out of your back yard? And the water fall, would love to know where that is too. I take photos now with only scrapbooking in mind, so I could have some fun with that water fall.

well I have to say, you made the wife sit and stare in awe!! she loved them all and can’t believe that you can find all of these beautiful spots to take these awsome pictures. I am jelous that you got to see in person these wonderful spots. I am sure hoping that someday I can find a nice camera to share some of the spots that I have found.

    Great shots
The thing about all the things River Eyes sees, is there for all of us to see. Picture perfect scenes are everywhere, but people need to slow down and “see” them for what they are. I do a lot of walking around in the woods year round and many times things catch your eye and make you stop and look for more than a passing glance. RE definitely has an eye for detail, more than most. I have an old Canon camera that I would love to learn how to use so I could get pics of the great things the great outdoors has to offer. They wouldn’t be near the quality of these pics, but still worth capturing for myself. I really would like to see more winter shots. There is something about winter time that really makes great pics, as well as the sunsets.
