Nice choice…I have one in my tank and he’s the coolest thing….Not afraid to take down 2-3 crappie minnows in one sitting

This raises an interesting question. I remember having a little largemouth in my aquarium as a kid and was thinking about doing it again. However, I’m afraid state laws will not permit it. I know legally I cannot possess a bass under 14″. That’s double the size that I wanted. And next, I think there is something in the regs about transporting live game fish.? Anyone knowledgeable about the possession of live fish rules?

I think it’s OK to keep panfish and rough fish as pets though.

i talked to our local warden (dennis kirschbaum)about a year ago or so and he said it was legal to keep game fish but i would have to include them in my possesion limit,i have kept blue gills when i was in high school and had good success with them.but i want the color of pumpkinseeds.i have a 150 gallon aquarium so i have plenty of capacity to keep 6 to 8 fish i have been into tropicals for 25 years so i thought it would be a good change, and i dont need to heat the water, thanks for the replies

Damn, I got a 55 gallon one and I thought that was big. How much does the enite setup weigh total. Close to 1,000 pounds?

A gallon of water weighs 8.3 pounds, so the water weight alone is over 1200 lbs. Now add the tank, stand, filter(s), lights, etc etc….let’s hope we never have to help him move the tank from one side of the room to the other!

You might be thinking of the MN laws…you can’t transport any game fish alive…unless you are 16 years old or under…then it can only be up to 4 fish at a time… not over…10 inches…I might add Northern an walleyes are not included…it’s only certain game fish, pumpkinseed is one of them…Northern and walleyes are not listed as a fish you can have transported.
One other note: You can’t transport the water from the Mississippi because it’s classified as infested…milfoil, zebra mussles ect.

Yeah, my tank suggests 30-40 pounds of rocks. His must be alot more. Better have a sturdy stand for it.
