Tom I agree with you all the way.Stats don’t tell the whole story.I meant no disprespect to all you Vike fans. I just think Farve is a tad bit better in a must win situation is all.And Tom is right neither team is going very far if at all in the post season.Me I will stick to hunting and fishing instead of wasting 3 hours watching overpaid kids play a game.

the reason that make the #4 so good in a must win situation is the fact that he isn’t affraid to lose. he also isn’t affraid to win. he will lay it all out on the line and when the game is done, he will leave it on the field and move on to the next game. that is a vet qb for you. you have Daunte that beats himself up all week for a poor performance and it shows when he is playing the next week, then that week compounds ontop of the last and he don’t know how to walk away and say, I did my best or I did all that I could do. he can’t say them words becuase he hasn’t done the best or all he could do to win the game. he is in a spot where he is affraid that if he loses, he will be benched. well maybe we should do that and get the 2nd string in there until he gets his head right. just have to have a no fear attitude and let it all hang out for the “W”.

December 16, 2004 at 3:40 pm #332066Speaking of “Bring back” (Burnsie or Bud), please do NOT bring back Denny Green! My buddy just moved to Arizona and they really hate the guy down there. He didn’t get the grace period he did here!
jldiiPosts: 2294December 16, 2004 at 4:44 pm #332081I’m not convensed entirely that Tice can’t coach. His game managment needs some work, thats for sure, but coaching players on foot movement, position, techniques, etc. that are taught on the practice field, he does seem to be very good at.
I honestly believe he really needs to shed his nice guy image. He needed to use that approach for awhile as a new coach, and with all these younger players. Heck, I think there are only a few players on the team that were there when he took over as coach. All the rest have come in since. The grace period needs to come to an end. (Maybe it already has with Hovan!)
Yes, I still think Tice can coach this team, but his players need to understand, there will be no more “time outs” when they screw up. Instead, he needs to tell them “first time its an a$$ chewing, and after that, its the highway.”
One last thing that might really help him and this team. Bring back Bud Grant’s rule of no celebrating! These kids have absolutely no discipline for the pro game any more. All they want to do is get on ESPN highlights doing some dance move!

I think the main problem with this celebration thing is that they do it when they make a tackle 10 yds down the field. That would be like you celebrating when you catch a sheepie!December 16, 2004 at 5:31 pm #332107Hey if the Shepie is 15# you bet I’m a yellin and a screamin’…..I know what you mean though. I’m sick of the celebration stuff. The Packer game was a prime example with Barnett celebrating a tackle when your down 35 to whatever when they played the Eagles.

If Tice is fired, who should replace him?
December 16, 2004 at 9:09 pm #332145I doubt any big time coach would come here with Red trying to sell the team. Signing a coach to a 5 year 10 to 15 million dollar deal just adds 10 to 15 million dollars to the sale price. Plus the new owner would want to hire his people.
I do not see Tice going any where while Red has a “cheap” option on his contract. Red throws around nickels like they are manhole covers
December 16, 2004 at 11:17 pm #332180I would like to see bill cower. I liked the way he took care of the stupid players on his team, he wasn’t affraid to grab a facemask and chew the player out for thier bone head play. I pick him.

December 16, 2004 at 11:20 pm #332182i think Holmgren will end up in San Fran and Tice wont be fired.I know i sure hope he wont be
December 16, 2004 at 11:44 pm #332160Of course tice wont be fired. They cant win a super bowl with out a new stadium. Red will just keep tice around so they never get any where then when he gets what he wants then tice will go.
December 16, 2004 at 11:47 pm #332183Move the defensive coordinator down to field level. Let Tice run the offense. Let Culpepper call the plays. Let Moss run fast. Let Purple Pride stay in Texas where he belongs.
Football is still only played with 11 on each side. This game is not that hard to figure out that we need all these specialized players. Let me put my best 11 out there to hit your 11 in the mouth and let the best man win. Let Culpepper start running over people again, he’s not any more likely to get hurt that way than getting hurt on a blitz.

I agree totally. That’s what is wrong with almost all major sports today.
