as a lifelong Packer fan they should retain Tice and Linehan for at least 10 more years!

I think Tice is doing a good enough job to keep his job next year. If they don’t improve dramatically, he should go after that.

Problem is that this isn’t a slump.

    There are several factors here.

    1) Tice talks like “Dim” on a “Bug’s life”……(if you haven’t seen the movie, go rent it tonight and you will know what I mean)….So, a guy just can’t get that voice out of his head……….The guy is a good offensive coordinator, but that is it……..

    2) We still have Culpeppar……….which is an OK QB, but not a thinker when under pressure. If Tice calls out a play, and Pepper is to pass to Moss, and Moss is open, all is good. However, if Moss isn’t open on that play, culpepper will fumble, get sacked, throw away, make a mad attempt to get the ball to Moss which will result in an interception or incompletion. In the meantime, there are 3 other guys open down field that peppar can’t “see”……..Pepper crumbles under the pressure and he can’t think “outside the box”. The guy is huge and has a great arm, but he can’t think for himself. (That is what makes Farve a great QB, he can see the field and think for himself)

    3) Our injuries have been horrendous. Good grief, we were running our 4th string running back for how many games??? Moss gets beat up, everyone is hurt……..Anyone remember “Flying saucer”?????? Who????

    4) We have no Line Backers………….enough said…….

    5) Hovan………..who? The guy is a wannabe. We would be better off with Lessner the wrestler in there. Hovan was trained directly by John Randle. John Randle was the only guy who actually scared Farve. Farve admitted that. Randle was a legend!!! The legend trained the pup, and the kid is still a pup with a sour face. If anyone gets in his face, he cries………..when he cries he can’t play……..Hovan can’t play football with the big boys……..That is all I have to say about that…….

That is my story and I’m sticking to it!!!

having been a viking fan forever, i really don’t think its tice’s fault. hard to make a glass cathedral out of a sand pile. i have never been a big culpepper go to guy, he’s good if he has all day to get rid of the ball. why can’t that big tall drink of water get the ball to our receivers. one problem is they don’t have any hawkeye football players on the team anymore. if moss was playing with farve he have 3 times more catches. could someone forward this to the vikings owner.

My take is Tice is way too conservative and with a lousy defense you need to take some chances on offense. Someday he will figure out touchdowns are worth more points than field goals.

you hear Tice talking about being a smash mouth football team, but to bad for us, it is our mouth that is getting smashed in!! I think that Tice has some great ideas, but he isn’t getting his idea through the offense coordinator. and when the head coach and the coordinator are not on the same page, they will butt heads. then you add no D, the other team has all day to throw the ball and they can run forever around our guys.

    what we need:

    1. a simple play book, none of this fancy moss tossing the rock or anything like that. and if we are not leading the game, do not get away from our running game. also get rid of the guys that can’t run and get our 4th stringer back in there, he gained more yards on each run than any others.

    2. get a group of guys together that want to make the opposing players have snot bubbles comming out of thier noses after each hit. guys that want to play because they love the game, not to get paid millions to sit on the bench and be a baby.

    3. stop all of the celebrations after each play and them stupid touch down dances. I am getting so tired of seeing guys make 1 tackle and jump up and celebrate like they have just saved the world. then the next play, they get run over and stomped in the ground.

that is my story and I am sticking to it:

What this Viking team needs is a good kick in the a$$. I am sick and tired of trying to build a team with a bunch of young guys who are “emotionaly fragile”!!

This team needs to have an attitude, and I’m not talking about doing a break dance because you made a tackle, or got a first down. I’m talking about a team who believes in what they are doing. A team that will not accept not accomplishing what they set out to do. A team with a chip on its shoulder. I’d love to see this team in a bench clearing fight some time just to see if they have anything swinging between their legs. They sure don’t play like they do!!

Maybe its time for another Les Steckel type hard a$$ coach.

Heck, I’d be glad to have Ditka take over this team.

Gary, you are a wise man, I could not have said it better. The only thing I would have to add is Culpepper is terrible at anticipating routes. He seems to not know where his recievers are going to be so instead he waits until they are open to throw the ball, which we all know does not work.

I think allowing that Moss pass is enough reason alone to fire him.

Look at it this way, 2+ minutes, down by 4, even if we score on that play, Seattle will march right down and win at the end like Indy and GB did.

Tice’s game mgmt is HORRIBLE. Grind it out, use your 4 plays, get in the end zone and dont take a risk until you need to. Heck, I dont know if I even throw the ball until it is 3rd down and more than 3 yds at that point. If you can run the ball 4-6 times and punch it in the endzone w/ under 1 minute, you win.

On top of that, he needs to pay someone to tell him when to throw his red hanky. 3rd and 1/2 inch is not worth losing your challenge privledge when the next time you need it might be a 60yd TD.

Out of all the penalties against MN this year, I’m suprised one hasn’t been thrown against Tice.

Personal foul—Illegal use of the head coaching position. A 15yrd penalty for improper position of a pencil behind the ear imitating someone with an education.

But then again, does McCombs even care? I thought he was all about moving the team to San Antonio? It’s much easier to move a team with a consistent losing record.

As a Packer Fan I say Tice should stay. The Vikes are pretty good talent wise but thats all just good and there season thus far mirrors that. At QB Daunte is average,RB is somewhat strong but the line has faults that show.WR is strong but rely on Moss to much when he is playing.Defense is weak.Overall there on on par with much of the leauge even the Pack. The Pack are a tad stronger at the QB and RB positions is all. In my opinion most athletes these days are way overpaid and undereducated thugs.I would much rather watch hunting or fishing or better yet go hunting or fishing instead of watching a bunch of gangsters play a silly game.

I could argue this statement all day. Let’s look at the stats.

    Vikings rushing: 1548 YDS. 4.8 YDS/carry

    Packers rushing: 1652 YDS. 4.6 YDS/carry

I think we’d have to call that a dead heat. Now the QB comment boggled me. Let’s look at the stats.

Culpepper: 3729 YDS, 69.7% completion percentage, 10 INTS, 31 TDS, a QB rating of 108.9

Favre: 3160 YDS, 63.0% completion percentage, 13 INTS, 23 TDS, and a QB rating of 89.6

Let’s not forget the QB’s running abilities.

    Culpepper: 339YDS, 4.3 average, 2TDS, lost 4 fumbles.

Favre: 41 YDS, 3.7 average, 0 TDS, lost 0 fumbles.

I guess if you completely ignore the stats then Favre is better than Culpepper this year.

With GB, a team that has declared itself run oriented, you would expect to see lower numbers like that from #4

And It’s the Intangibles that Favre has that makes him a better QB than Culpepper. Granted, he still makes his mistakes…but he continually makes some remarkable plays…Dante hasn’t taken control of his team and become the “true leader”…Dont’ get me wrong, I like Dante, but he still has some maturing to do as a QB before he’s in the same league as B.F.

    Just my opinion…no disrespect intended

I am not talking about careers. Culpepper has not been around long enough to talk careers yet. This is just this season. The simple fact is he is having a better all around year than Favre.
We’ll have to look in about ten years to see how his career numbers look.

1st and 10 from the 20 and 6 minutes to go and its god forbid a wide receiver-reverse-pass.

1st and goal to goal and pass again to moss on a lob. Kicked a field goal after a lion turnover.

Defense backs and line backers blitze and open HUGE holes.

No kicker or punter under 35 years of age.

Play a zone instead of man on man , corners do not cover or play tite, linebackers dont play as a linebacker only try to get sacks, when was the last time a linebacker picked off a pass (not tipped).

Corner and linebacker coaches should be fired first.

    Pathetic.

Hey Tice are you having FUN!!!

6-0 last year to a nonplayoff season

this year 6-1 and now are 7-6 Pathetic.

Stats can be looked at in a number of ways. Just look at last weeks game. Green Bay got the ball on the Detroit 42 yard line and Green ran it 6 out of 9 plays to the Detroit 5 then kicked the winning FG…….The Vikings handed the ball to a RB 4 times the entire 2nd half. So who has the better running game? Me I would take my chances with Green and the Packers o line all day long.

As for the QB position, again, who would you rather have line up under center? Me I’ll take the first ballot hall of famer and 3 time MPV over Daunte

Tice isn’t this teams main problem. Injuries to key players have made them scramble most weeks this season. With todays limits of the salary cap your back up players are either going to be very young guy or old guys playing for the league minimum. If you lose a couple of guy’s such as a Birk, Moss, Bennett, Kleinsauser there is not much behind them.

Let’s be realistic on both sides though…….Neither team is going anywhere in the post season….On that note to the Christmas Eve Game.
