Can anyone tell me which of these two underwater systems is the better. I do alot of crappie fishing in oklahoma lakes (no Ice) and fish in enclosed docks. Im very interested in underwater viewing and I am open to comment on either of the units …Thanks ron

Hi Ron, and welcome to the site. To get a good comparison I would want to ask you a few more questions. Which specific model are you looking at? Aqua View systems start at $200 with a 5″ screen and go up to a 4 camera system with split screen. The Marcum 460 and 560 come with a camera that allows for 360 degree viewing. These are between $500 and $600. There are different features in each one.
Both manufacturers have a nice product. More of your decision making process will involve which features you want for your fishing style.

There have been numerous discussions on the merits of each. If you do a search on either “aquaview” or “marcum” I’m sure you can find them. BTW, welcome to the site!

Here is a copy and paste from a past post.

You need to upload a 80 X 80 pixel image to a server and add the address to the file to the appropriate place in your profile. Or you could send the photo to [email protected] (along with your username here so we know who the photo belongs to) and we’ll take care of the rest.

Marcum offers 2 cameras with 360 viewing capability.
The VS460 allows you to manually pan the camera to the position you want. It retails for $500.
The VS560 will allow automatic pan speeds and also has a remote control. Retail is $600.
Aqua-Vu has 8 models to pick from. The IPS is a downview camera which we found to give a 5′ to 6′ field of view at 6′ of height. Might be good for the walleye/perch guys. The others are a regular directional camera in which the cable is rotated to change view directions. Some of these can allow the cable to hook into the tail fin to make it a down view camera.
The Quad 360 is the one with 4 cameras and the split screen. Retail is $500.
Plenty of options for those wanting to add another piece of equipment to their collection.

The MarCum 560 is the way to go if you are looking for a top of the line camera that will meet or exceed all you needs, here is why.

1)360 degree viewing, with 3 speeds of auto panning
    2)down viewing and siding viewing
3)a lighting system that actually works at dark
4)on screen depth and temp display
5)on screen directional control that compensates for the monitor direction
6)a new camera design and weight system that allows for higher trolling speeds
7)you get what you pay for
8)a compact carrying case that protects the unit is rough boat rides
9)Top of the line components and camera
    10) NO MORE TURNING THE CORD!!!!!!!!!!!

That sure was fun. I am serious though, you get what you pay for in underwater cameras and I think the MarCum OVS 560 is the best camera on the market.

The 460 is the same camera design, minus all the bells and whistles.

I am proud to be sponsored by MarCum and I do believe in their products, as they are committed to bringing the latest and greatest technology to the market
