Let’s just refocus here on the poor families who had their loved ones murdered.

They need all of our prayers at this time.

God Bless them and give them the strength they need to get through this.

I was very sadden to hear of this yesterday on the news. I am in belief that I don’t care WHAT color, race, ect. he is. He did something very wrong, and I hope he gets as much punishment as possible. Will it be as much as (not only us but the families now suffering) we want? Most likely not. Will we have to live with it? Yes. I am very glad he was caught and my thoughts go out to the families who have now lost love ones. Lets also remember that they were out there doing something they enjoyed, and that the four who came to help – that, that was what they were doing. It is very sad they had to die trying to help, but I’d rather think about them and their actions then the fool who did a bad thing. I think that instead of wasting our time talking about the killer, lets think about and/or do something for the families who now don’t have a father, son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter, ect.

I am not about to jump in the fire. Anything I could have offered, has been.

That being said, my thoughts and prayers go out to all families that have been involved in this horrible event.

Here’s one more oddity about al this. After the act, he was lost in the woods. Then he came across two hunters who had no clue what just happened. They led him out of the woods. I’m thinking that if this guy was out to kill ala Henry,Speck or Gacy the count would have been 7.
Man, the story gets stranger and stranger on this one.
By the way..I thought F.I.B was common knowledge up there. Maybe it’s just a North/Central WI thing.
F.I.B. …F@*%#ng Illinois Bas%#@d . I guess the whole “flatlander” thing kinda got lost when they figured out that people from New Hampshire have been calling New Yorkers that for 200 years.
We have a saying for WI that retorts the F.I.B. I’ll tell you guys but only if you promise not to get mad. Just keep in mind that I love WI when I tell you.

They just had an updated story on my local news. Nothing new to reoprt – this killer got more then 20 rounds off doing what he was doing. Some one in a earlier post asked what you should do if you had to confront someone. The DNR said that you should say noting, go call the local police or sheriff, or state patrol. You should get the tag number off thier tag. Also, you should call 1-800-TIP-WDNR with this tag number as well.

You guys dish out all this bs about us hmong because of the actions of one guy.
If my father and his brother and their uncle and all their relatives knew you guys were going to treat us like this, they never would have helped you guys out in Vietnam. Of all the post in this forum i’m happy to see some of you stick up for us.
Anytime something happens with Hmong and Outdoors this is all I ever hear. They do this they do that. BLAH BLAH BLAH. Killing and wounding 8 people isnt right. If he did do it just for the heck of it then I hope he gets whats coming to him.
From my own personal experience that region of wisconsin is not the friendliest towards people of different colors. I went fishing with a buddy of mines up there and get this ( buddy was a white guy). Yeah there are some decent white people who dont think they are better than every other race. Anyways we stopped to get me a fishing license as I have never been up there before. (wow, I actually wanted a license) The cashier didnt even want to sell me a license. Played stupid and all saying the driver’s license wasn’t mines because my hair was not the color on my license and my eyes were hazel brown. How many different kinds of black color do you guys know? Anyways! My buddy came in to see what was takin so long and I told him. He stuck up for me and all which was cool and I never did get the license. We just came back to the cities where more civilized people were and went to the pool hall.
Some of us are better than others at dealing with anger. Maybe the victims said or did things to him to make him snap. I wouldnt be suprised if they did.

The HMONG community has a liaison with the St. Paul Police. They need to have one with the DNR Officers as well. If we don’t demand that the HMONG get training on how to respect private property and proper hunting and fishng practices we are going to see more days of what we saw today. I know two kids that were scared out of the woods by camouflaged HMONGS that told them this was their land. The land was actually private property. Please write your State Representatives and demand action. I would volunteer and I’m sure there are others that would help the HMONG if we could develope a communications with them.

My take on this is that it’s an extention of the things we have been seeing for years now. There is no regard or respect for people or property. The gangs, drugs, blame it on what you want. The hip hop culture added in with the violent video’s, movies and games is just driving society down. You can’t watch tv anymore if you don’t want to be subjected to violence, language, nudity among other things.
Tell me, where do young people learn? In school? TV? The streets? We allowed & and created this cesspool we are headed for so we shouldn’t be suprised when things like this happen. And many of you are correct, it is a cultural thing, it’s American!
Well i gotta go now, my peeps are waiting. After a new piercing and a really cool tatoo we gotta see some people who dissed us!
    God help us all.

This person commited a crime not a hunting accident. If he understood the hunting laws or not. It really does not matter. He decided to kill. Do you think when he read do not shoot fellow hunters in the regs he did not understand it and then made a mistake due to not knowing. Some rules just dont need to be written.
This guy is a criminal and a murderer. Deserving of a long long life rotting in a cell. Life is far more cruel than death.

FiSh_KiLLeR, I am sorry for your trouble about getting a license and as I stated in my first post I do not care what race or religion you are. The trouble that I have is what could have been said that would make a human snap and start shooting other people. You could call me every name in the book, some already have, and I would not start KILLING. I am just having a hard time getting a grip on this whole deal.

So, not only have we brought up race, creed, and the such, we are going to start judging people. I have 3 tattoos, two of which show my love for fishing. I also have two earring holes in each ear. Has this turned me in to a killer of any kind? No, I also own a hand gun, a 22 rifle, and a hunting shotgun. I haven’t even killed animal let alone a human being. LETS ALL REMEMBER SOMETHING – People are hurt, mamed, and killed everyday. Lets stop looking beyond the true answer. Lets look beyond the stereotypes. LETS REMEMBER WHO THE TURE VICITMS ARE! I see that this post has brought out the true person in some of the people we thought we knew. I can say that I am not liking it. Makes me just say the %#@* with this site and go else where for my fishing fix. Yes, Everyone is entitled to free speech and your opinion. But there is a right way and a wrong way to do it. And we lost the true meaning of this post. 5 people have lost their lives, 3 more are fighting for their lives. This right here is what starts all the hate in people to being with. And then we wonder why some people go off the deep end?

FiSH_KiLLeR-I would like to hear what the Hmong community thinks about this situation. Since you are Hmong, let’s get a feel for “both” sides of this. Are they as outraged as the rest of us? I am not picking a fight, but I am curious.

Well the horse is dead now people. That is hte bad thing with a subject like this, it’s nice to hear everyone’s opinion, but alot of time it is offensive to someone and turns into an argument…..I started this post so everyone was aware of this incident and as sportsmen/women would keep the victims in our thoughts and prayers Sorry if I personally have offended someone here on this site, that was not my intention. This is a great web-site and let all not ruin the reason “we” are “all” here.

I dont think there is a reason to bash all Hmongs. Just like any race, we all have our idiots that make us all look bad. I’m not sure if the media is at fault but it seems everytime there is a rape of the resource, it is someone of color. This goofball that shot these folks yesterday had a previous record for keeping 93 crappies over the limit. What needs to be determined is do these violators know the limits and laws, if not, then we need to educate them because they obivously aren’t going to educate themselves. And if they do know the laws, then they can be delt with just like any other violator. I’m just going on past personal experiences with these type of new commers that dont speak or are not willing to speak english and violate common sense laws such as not wearing orange during firearms season, shooting after dark, tresspassing and over limit violations. Point is, if they dont know, they shouldnt go and if they do know and continue to violate then is just a disrespect to any tax paying land owner and a disrepect to all law abiding people of this country. I think this shooting incident is going to make people aware of who could be on your property and what could possibly happen to them is they confront someone. Call the cops and walk away, and never confront someone unarmed.

I do go for an every state law where any immagrant thats new to the United States to take a course in conservation laws befor they receive a hunting or fishing liscense. Am i forcing it on to them to do so, i don’t think so, whats better them taking a 4 week class or getting fined severly and maybe loosing thier boat and thier house. I just see too many excuses being used. I think a conservation course on laws and rules is in order as soon as they can put it into law. If a certain group dosen’t know the laws then a course is in line then there is no question. My heart go out to the families of the victims.

I hunt near Orr,MN. Several years ago a WHITE MALE shot his uncle out of a tree stand they were arguing over. The wounded guy survived, but either way it was a terrible incident and it happened right over the hill from me. I was 500 yards away from this nut job. Scary stuff !

Hey, let’s try and do something positive here. There have to be surviving family members, and there has to be some place collecting contributions to those families. There’s a million guys on this website so maybe we can chip and help those poor folks.

This is a very funny comment, because it is a indirect result of what you just said that caused this killing.

Yes the Hmong people helped us out in Vietnam, in return, the U.S. opened it’s doors for your people…Why? Because if we had left you there, you all would have been slaughtered in the aftermath. That’s the truth no matter how you look at..

So you say that your Dad and Uncle wouldn’t have helped “us” if they had known….Don’t you think the remaining survivors wouldn’t have wanted to help you in Vietnam knowning that imigrants from there would eventually come and dessimate your entire family!!

I don’t think you want to start a political battle here again, we just got over the election and are all kind of burned out on it…

FishKiller, I think you are a prime example of what it should be like…You’ve come here(or born here), assimlated with the rest of us..and That’s great. But until the rest of your culture can do the same, how does anyone expect us to greet imigrants with open arms? Which brings up a whole different political debate of imigration and border control…which we don’t want to get into.

Like I said before, this is much deeper than a single hmong. and this guy was from your civilized town of St. Paul.

This will be my last post on this subject, never before has a situation bothered me so much. I cant imagine how those families must feel. Nothing will ever correct this terrible situation, ever! Though no regulation or law can ever detect or prevent anger, there must be some way to prevent these types of tradgedies. What requirement is there to purchase a hunting license? Proper ID and you are legal to hunt! Maybe we dont have strict enough gun control laws. Every one that reads this should be thinking that! Could a stricter gun policy have prevented this? Would a requirement to pass hunter safety for everyone before getting a license have prevented this? I for one feel very strongly that we as sportsman can not sit back and not do anything about it. I personally urge everyone on this site to look inside themselves for real and rational ideas and communicate them with your local DNR, Sportsmans groups, anywhere that you feel you can be heard. Above all we should all pray for the victims families!

I just heard about this today when I went into town and stopped for gas.. the locals were pretty much up in arms… talking in ways that went out with the old west… this happened not all that far from where I live….

hopefully its all just talk triggered by the horrible shock… its tragic and terrible… and more trouble springing from it will only make it worse and worse and worse until it tears us apart… killing never helped anything or anyone…. we need to be a nation United…. We are WE…. not us and them…. I was shocked to hear of this, and troubled and saddened….. how will this affect our future? will people talk to “tresspassers” by shooting first and asking questions later? we need the temperance and understanding that Americans have prided themselves for, we need fairness and justice, we need to work together to solve problems….. before we become a Nation as troubled and torn as any others…… I pray for healing for all of us.. and particularly for the families involved…. (all of them)

Very Well said Ken…. I am going to lock this post up till the heat settles…There is nothing to gain by some of these posts…Our thoughts go out to the families of all involved..
