I just wanted to pass along a little experience that I recently had with Mercury Marine. The story is posted on another website so I am just going to add the link (hopefully this isn’t against the rules since I am not selling anything).

Just thought it might help some other folks if I passed this along.

It’s great to hear about these types of stories with a major manufacturer. It won’t sway me to the dark side, but it’s still great to hear.

Nice story! Although my experience with Mercury Marine was a little more extended(fighting a bad motor for three years),in the end I feel they did what was right – after numerous repairs and still having problems, they sent a new motor (after the warranty period had expired) I received only a 90 day warranty on the new motor but it cost me nothing other than hauling it in.
p.s. It ran great all year – no problems at all

    Mike,

The reason that the extended warranty company wouldn’t cover the full cost of parts and labor was because they said my Optimax isn’t worth what the dealership was charging for repairs. They use some Blue book that I have never heard of to determine the value of the motor. When I mentioned that every other blue book said my motor was worth nearly double what they were saying they said to read the fine print in the contract. That is where it stated what blue book they used to determine value. It was a bunch of crap as far as I was concerned. I wish I could buy an Optimax for what they said mine was worth. lol

Where did you get the extended warranty from?? What is the comanies name??? I don’t want to do business with that company.
