Well………..I did’nt win the loto last night! If I had I was wondering what NEW BOAT would I buy? I have often wondered would I buy one or two? Would it be a new Ranger, or Alumacraft T/P?

Please let me know what you might buy if given the chance?

Depends on where I was doing the majority of my fishing. For me, I don’t don’t stray far from the Croix/Pool 3 area. So I have taken a shining to the 1775 Lund Pro V. If I was fishing the big pond and money was no object I would pick the Ranger. But since money is an object, my choice was be the Alumacraft. What is the cost difference between the 2? 15-20k depending on the model?

I would have bought a 65′ Viking for fishing marlin and a 16 fishing rig for the lakes and the rivers.

    Thanks for asking.

Did you ever decide on a tiller or a wheel boat?

Overall its hard to beat a ranger….especially in a glass boat.

last week i put $1000.00 down on a lund 2025 pro-v le single counsel with a 225 opti and a t8 kicker. should be ready to pick up next week. after living the last 2 years on the puddle, the 1600 angler with a 40hp yamaha just wasn’t cutting it. that boat served me well the last 10 years, just a little too small to be on the big water as much as i am. it’s still in the family, my bro-in law bought it.

    I think I would take a close look at a 2090 Warrior.

James, I’m leaning toward a wheel boat. I have some pricing on new and my eye on a great used rig!

i looked at warriors, didn’t like the layout and was set up for a 24v bowmount. i got to have a 36v on the front. had a great deal on a 20′ tuffy, the wife didn’t want a sparkley boat. so that left out ranger, she refers to them as disco rangers. the light reflects off of them like a disco ball. she did however want to look at the lunds. how can you argue with that. the le model, steering counsel set futher back in the boat, was what i was looking for. this is only available in lund and tuffy that i am aware of. it also came down to price, i found a brand new, never been in the water, 2003 for $10,000.00 less than a 2005 rigged the same way. i’ve got 2 years into this search, and fished out of or looked at most of the popular models. who am i trying to kid, it really came down to this, we are buying a lund because she said so!!! anybody want to argue that.

How about a Skeeter 1790T with a Yami F75 tiller.

Oh, wait… I just bought this rig this spring. I guess I don’t need another new boat for at least 5 years. This boat is just WAY too pretty for a mook like me!

I would like to get the new hydraulic power steering for it though.

How about a 2005 Ranger 621 DVS with Yamaha 250 4-stroke and T8 tiller 4-stroke, splash guards and the works with Minnkota electrics on the bow and transom, Lowrance GPS/Sonar combos, rod holders, marine radio, etc. Rig will be used for less than 6 tournaments and promotional appearances. Transferrable warranties on the boat and extended warranties on the engine. Factory cleaned and looking like new…

all this for ~$10K+ off retail. What could be better? You pick your colors, options and it will be ready for the October full moon in ’05.

Let me know if this intrests you!

Before you make any decisions, take a hard look at Yar-Crafts. The “new” models of Yar-Crafts will be coming out this spring. Later on, into summer we will be introducing a new model 21 ft. dual counsel that will knock all the competition out of the water. The new models will be a composite construction (which means no wood), they will continue to have the strongest made fiberglass hulls in the industry, as well as a number of other modifications that are really neat also. Plus….we are rolling back our prices to what they were about 3 years ago!!

    Jack,

As a current YarCraft owner, I’ll second that recommendation. I couldn’t be happier with my Wrangler. Can’t wait to see the new line at the boat shows.

    A guy needs 5 boats!!!

I’ll second that statement. It seems like there is always something that could be improved.

I buy a 2004 F75 Yami(carbs) and the 2005 model year will be fuel injected and have a neat little switch on the tiller to turn your rpms lower or higher to adjust your idle.

That would be a great feature to have.

Easy decision for me. It would be the twin diesel 75 foot Viking with a boom to lift in the 22 foot Ranger “Z” series Commanche with the 275 HP Merc Verado 4 stroke.

I have the best boat on the water for sale. My 2005..yes a 2005 Warrior 193 with a 225 HP Yammie 4-stroke with all of the electronics for $35,000. That is over $10,000 less than retail. The boat/motor alone are $42,000.

2 Years ago I was in the same delema, I narrowed it down to Yar-craft 1850 storm or Ranger 619. I had a deal with Lund under a guide program and owned 5 lunds, however I thought it was time to change. The main problem I had with lund was me and my clients would get wet in rough water. (1800 pro v tiller) Even with my heart being lund I switched to fiberglass to see for myself if there really is a differance, boy is there ever. The 619 won the battle 2 years ago however the 1850 storm might be in the horizon, it’s hard for a tiiler man to steer with a wheel.

well know that i can get back online after having hard drive problems and then log in issues.

I would have a boat for every fish.

a lund pro v for fishing them eyes.

I would have a 620 or 621 ranger for bass, or maybe even a skeeter.

then a good ol fashioned 16′ aluminum for panfishing. and of course I would also have them loaded with all of the latest and greatest electronics, and gizmos.

    thanks

Any new boat I wanted I would get a Basscat Puma with a Merc 225 Opimax XS Pro, or a Basscat Pantera IV with a 200 ETEC HO.

I am conservative. A new Crestliner Fish Hawk with a 90HP E-Tec. I currently have a Fish Hawk with an 88HP SPl and hate to sell it because a few years ago my wife and I took it from Winona to St. Louis and back. And the boat, albeit not perfect is tough. My son managed to run it into a wingdam rock pile wide open, and there are some scratches and dents, but the boat held up.

Nonetheless, I suspect the Ranger Fiberglass boats are about the best you can buy, but I could never figure out why someone would spend $20K to $40K to catch bass they release anyway. Better to buy a Jon Boat and fish for Carp and Mudcats. They are bigger, fight harder and more fun. Plus you save five figures on the boat.
